The US version; I've never seen the UK one, so I can't comment on it, but OMG the US one is SO. GOOD. Don't understand why it was cancelled. Creegan and Branca have SUCH AMAZING CHEMISTRY. Right down to the first twenty minutes they know each other and he's sort of crazy and already telling her that she's beautiful like birds in flight are beautiful.

The UK version is fantastic, and you should see it someday, but I kind of don't want you to, because everyone who does likes it better. I saw it first, but it never really made me go all fannish and "omgomgomg!" like the US version did. I put this down to my utter lack of desire to see Creegan and BrancaTaylor make out. HOLY CRAP I AM SHALLOW.

Is Creegan as crazy in the UK version? Also, not, you're not shallow, but I didn't find Branca Taylor hot in any way and that severely hurts my desire to see the show.

CreeganUSA! is muc more... baseline crazy than Actual Creegan. ::watched the UK version first and is actually That Girl about it... *SHAME*:: CreeganUSA is all "OMG1 Lookit me be KRAZY!" while Dave is more... slow decent of madness. Because TEUSA was defintely more about the flash and slickness, while the whole point of the UK version was that these people were in the trenches every day, dealing with this sick shit and having to cope.

And Dave? Doesn't cope very well. And he kind of eventually drags Taylor and Rivers down with him. It's just such a really neat look at a situation in a realistic way. And OMG. The ending of Season 3 is just... GAH.

Hmm. I suppose my problem with watching the UK one would be that, FOR ME, that is the Creegan I know and love. Even though he is version two. But ohhhhhhhh. Now I think I really want to track down the Mystery! (it aired as a Mystery! series here, didn't it? not Masterpiece Theater?) dvds. I'm sure our pretentious surburban library system has those.

UK!Creegan was most certainly off-kilter, but as I recall (it's been a while since I've seen it) he wasn't as demonstrative about it. I think I can enjoy both because Robson Green and Jeffrey Donovan are such very different actors. It's like they really are two different characters, not the same character played by two different guys.
