OKAY SO IT'S MOSTLY THOSE STATED REASONS. [River is the Doctor's "wife," yeah? Amy was getting married right before she stepped into the TARDIS. Where did the Book of Spoilers come from? Wouldn't it be the most deliciously awesome irony if the Doctor was present at both River's death (as Ten) and her "birth" (in whatever turns Amy into River)? Does River know that she is Amy, and is this yet another in a long line of secrets that the Doctor must be burdened with?]
Basically.
Amelia Pond, it's a name out of a fairy tale, a fairy tale like the Pandorica, which cannot possibly be real except that it is - it's there to imprison the Doctor. The Doctor. What did River say? She always hates the good wizards in fairy tales who do the tricking, because inevitably they end up being THE DOCTOR. Van Gogh had some line in his episode about being able to understand Amy's ~song of sadness. This world is constructed from the memories of the Doctor's companion (AMY), but Amy isn't flying the TARDIS when it's supposedly about to explode and fracture the universe - River is. Yeah. I'm mostly grasping at straws here, I know.
Or they could both just have fantastic names, EITHER OR.
edit: Oh my gosh! Amy's previous occupation is being a kiss-o-gram, while River routinely alludes people with hallucinogenic lipstick!
Um. Can this please be true? I WILL SELL MY SOUL FOR THIS TO BE TRUE. I WANT IT SO BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, AND I THINK IT HAS THE RIGHT WHO-CLUES FOR IT TO BE PLAUSIBLE.
I BUY INTO YOUR THEORY, BECAUSE I WANT IT. I WANT IT HARD.
It would be so awesome! There are so many possible things you could do with this idea! I JUST WANT IT TO BE TRUE SO BAD BECAUSE I THINK I'VE SECRETLY THOUGHT IT SINCE THE BEGINNING (when they first announced the companion's name and I thought, "Well, HMMMMMMM").
