Well, I was off Friday and today, giving me a 4-day weekend, as stated in my previous entry.
Friday, I took Phantom (my black lab) to get a bath and basic grooming at my sister's dog grooming store. She does my dog for free, since I'm immediate family, and that and all she has to do is have the bather bathe him, and then my sister brushes him out and clips his nails. She has to trim a little bit around this butt because it can get a bit fuzzy (he's not COMPLETELY lab... we think there's some rottweiler...ever so slightly)
Anyway, It's nice to have connections!
Saturday, my sister and I headed to BGSU and we had a BLAST! We visted old favorite eating spots, and toured the campus, since I hadn't seen it in 6 years. My husband and I went up last year for homecoming, but I had such a bad cold that I didn't feel up to walking all around campus. Anyway, in the evening, we went upstairs at one of the old eateries, which normally has live bands, but now apparently does karaoke on Saturdays. It was fun watching the 6-7 people we watched butcher the songs they were singing. It was even funnier seeing some late teen/early 20-somethings sing "Afternoon Delight"... that songs even older than ME! (I think... I don't particularly care for that song...) Anyway, we headed back to the room around 11 to just hang out and be "sisters".. played some card games and called it a night around midnight (i know... we're such party animals!)... but we had to get up early the next day: Mel wanted to catch the bengals game at 1 *rolls eyes*... like you can't see a bengals game any OTHER sunday... :(
But, it just so happens that it was a GOOD thing to leave early, because at about the 100 mile mark on I-75 (BG is 181, I-275 is 16... so you can gather how far we were from home)... I started to get a stomachache. I'd had a pastry from the "continental breakfast" at the hotel, so I thought that maybe I just had too much "sweet" in the morning. Well, it wouldn't go away! Around the 65 mile mark, I felt like I was going to get sick, but 1) I didn't want to get sick at a rest stop or gas station, 2) I wanted to get home, and 3) I will FIGHT throwing up until the VERY LAST SECOND! I can't stand it. (which is why at the age of 15, my "eating disorder of choice" was starvation, not perging...lol That's a long story...anyway..)
So, barely, we make it home... Mel leaves, and let's just say I was living in HELL from about 12:30 - 8:00 that night... couldn't keep a SINGLE thing down. Not even water. It got to the point where I was so thirsty and dehydrated, I almost had Rocky bring me to the hospital! But all they'd do is give me an IV... and I figured I'd try to fight it out a little longer. Finally, at 8, I had (not to get too detailed) but one good moment in the bathroom, and havn't gotten sick since. I was able to sip on ice water (which tasted SOOO good when I was dying of thirst!)... and by 10:00, i was nearly fully hydrated.
So, nice, fun day. And then around 1:00 this morning, the fever came (a little late, huh?!)... took ibuprofen, and felt much better this morning...but not totally up to snuff. I've been laying in bed all day!
This morning, though, Rocky showed me how much he trully loves me: since I was still sick, HE went out at 5:30am to get the last bobblehead in the collection from burger king. Normally he'd have been able to wait and get one on the way to work, but 1) this is the last one in the series and I have all of them so far, and 2) this week's is Chad Johnson (WR). Let's just say LAST week, it was Marvin Lewis, the coach, and my dad was BARELY able to get one for my sis and I at 7:45am! They sold out AS he was there! I'm glad Rocky went when he did, because 1) they opened late because someone didn't show up and 2) he was able to get in line in the drive thru, which they opened first, and was 3rd in line. He said when he left, there probably 20 cars behind him. Still, even being third in line, it took him 15 min. from when they opened until he got his food/bobble head! Sheesh! I tell you what, I married me a great man... willing to get up at 5am to get his wife a BOBBLEHEAD because she is too sick to do so herself. Some men out there would just be like "oh well... too bad!"... :)
And before anyone laughs at the fact that I seem obsessed w/ the bobbleheads, I wasn't at first..in fact, I got the Carson Palmer one on a Wednesday, when they go on sale on Monday, on they way to Gatlinburg... and the my sister made it an obsession to get all of them, and even went to some place near Erlinger, KY, to get the next one...My husband got the football for me, and my dad and Rocky barely got the last two! But at least it's over now. It was fun while it lasted... it kinda reminded me of the whole beanie baby craze (which I THANKFULLY did not get into!).. So, I'm sure in about 5 years i'll see these bobbleheads all over at a flea market somewhere...but hey, at least I have them NOW when the players are CURRENT... and it's makes a nice display for football season (even though we're having a hell of a time winning! grr...)
Yeah, I had to miss the game thanks to my many episodes yesterday, but we lost on a REALLY bad call at the end (always seems to work that way, don't you think?)... I think the refs are against us. LOL
Anyway, tonight is Phantom's last training/aka, graduation day... He did great last week, so I just hope he does the same this week and gets to officially pass :) He does well at home...he can just be stubborn.
ok, I've rambled enough... I need to lie down... getting a bit light-headed. Still not at 100%... :(
TTYL...
