Finally, something RIGHT is happening!
For those who do not know, I am a preschool teacher. I have been working for a Goddard School about 30 miles from my house for the past 3 years (well, for one year, I lived 11 miles from it, but then we got the house and it's further away now). I have been on the lookout for quite some time now to find something closer that is an actual PRESCHOOL, and NOT a day care (there's a difference, believe me!... a day care is basically just a glorified baby sitting business, whereas I am an actual degreed teacher with actual lessons)
Well, since about January, there has been a preschool being built litterally 0.6 miles from my house (I may have mentioned this in prior postings). It turns out a friend I knew in college, and who I have been keeping in contact with, knows the guy building it. So, he's given me some numbers to call to get a hold of this guy, and this guy has not even TRIED to call back. So I about give up. Oh well... c'est la vie!
Anyway, so fast forward to this morning: I am awaken by my friend, who says he has the guy right there next to him!! So, there I was, just waking up, and having to do so QUICKLY, talking to this guy. I spoke to him a little bit, gave him my information. He's from India, so we had a little bit of a communication problem. So, he turns me over to another guy, who I'm guessing is in charge of the hiring. The first guy is just the owner. He asks about my license (which is expired, but I can get it back with a few classes... which, as I explained to this guy, I just need the time and money to do!) He understood.
He wants to meet with me on Monday! We are meeting up at the site at 5:45, since I don't get out until 4:30, and it takes me 35 minutes or more to get home.
He also wants a copy of my transcripts, which I don't have because my current boss has them, and of course he calls me on a SATURDAY, when any of the offices at BGSU are CLOSED, so I can't even get the transcript order going! Augh! I called my friend about this, and he said not to worry about it. I could just say I'm in the process of getting them. Of course, if he wants to hire me, I could let my boss know I'm leaving, and can get my paperwork back! :)
Ya know, I'm wondering if my friend told this guy I was interested in being the director (which I mentioned in passing) and that's why he was so concerned about my license being expired. Hey, if I'm not qualified for a directoral job, I'll be just as happy being a teacher (depending on what they offer me as far as payment.. gotta pay the bills!) :) But in all reality, even if I'm making 50 cents less/hr, I'll still make out on the deal just in the GAS MONEY I'll save!
Anyway, we have a party to go to for a friend who is turning 30 today, so I have to get going. I'm just trying to NOT get anxious about all of this. :) And if it doesn't work out, oh well... at least I still have job :)
