I made a journal with the single purpose to store all interesting Libs related Articles/Interviews or whatever. I want to have it all in one place so that I can always find what I'm looking. Probably a website would be better for that purpose but I find that too complicated right now. Just in case someone is interested: fuckoffoaktree. I will do tags and stuff ( Read more... )

Oh you are a bloody marvel, you are! I'd just been thinking that something along those lines would be really brilliant, so well done! Assume you've fully pillaged p_penelope's journal, cause she's posted lots. Are you planning on having interviews and reviews of both gigs and releases? Are you planning on trying to include links to youtube interviews and radio ones as well as print? Friending now!xx

Yes, I pretty much want to include everything. But it's a lot of work and will take some time. I have to go through all the sources. And yeah, p_penelope's journal is great! Still not sure if I'd better make a website. I just want to have everything clearly arranged. It's so often that I'm looking for something and just can't find if. I have to think of what is the best option. Until that I just upload it into the journal.

A couple of thoughts. Apparently you can set up the LJ so that the tags come up on the left hand side of the page so people can click on them to find things by the tags. All of which relies on having very clear versions of what the tags should be - e.g. libertines interviews/articles; libertines gig reviews; libertines record reviews and the same for shambles and DPT - and then also tag them by date? or something. There are a number of other thoughts... including youtube links and radio links - an possibly links to .org and .org.uk / fdb posts from Peter and Carl (particularly ( ... )

Yeah, you're right about the community. It's just better when you want other people to use and share it and join in. And the tagging system is really making me trouble. I want to find things by date and then distinguish between shambles/dpt/libs interview/review/article but i just realized that it gets mixed up very often. I really have to find a clear system.

albion_catalogue sounds good. I hope it will work out not like so many other things which I tried to start. And thank you very much for your help, much appreciated. I'm always open for suggestions. Will set up the community and maybe make a first post where people can make suggestions and stuff. And the next thing would be to set up a tagging system.

:)

How would you do things like youtube links, or forum posts? Would you just post the links? All in one post? Or rather put the content into the post and then tag? Because I'd rather have it inside the post, just in case it ever disappears from the original source. Won't happen with forum posts probably, but you never know. Sorry, I just want this to be good and right now all the ideas are mixing up in my head. ;-)
Thanks again for your help

Hey love. Been thinking about the tagging issue. You seem only to be able to search for something by only one tag, which would mean that things would need to be tagged into categories as well as 'band' so, libs interviews-articles, shambles interviews-articles, etc. The only way I can think of to add a date factor in, which would be good, clearly, would be to sort into year as well, so tags would read 2002-libs-interviews&articles, 2002-libs-gig reviews, 2002-libs-recording reviews, 2002-libs-youtube, 2002-libs-radio, 2003-libs-interviews&articles, 2004-libs-interviews&articles, 2005-shambles&PD-interviews&articles, 2006-shambles&PD-interviews&articles, 2006-DPT&CB-interviews&articles and so on. Means there would be a long list of tags, and there'd need to be some way of tagging things which don't quite fit, or where date is uncertain, like a libs-misc category.

If that makes sense. Am more than happy to help out if you want, just shout. 'S a good project, love. xxxx

It'll be fine, love. It's a great community service, you know. Am happy to do what I can to help out, including moral support and defense against any antagonism! You can blame me for encouraging you! Suggest you might want to upload stuff to it before making an announcement about it? And am happy to announce it also to my flist, though maybe it's appropriate to announce to Libs daily and Share the Libs and DPT band and so on...

How're you doing with setting up the tags? Am out this evening, but happy to input on that later tonight if you like. x

Seen Dachelle's thread posted today?

she's suggested precisely what you're doing and there's lots of great links in the thread. I've posted saying about Albion_press and suggesting that people might want to put their stuff there. x
