My day today started off a bit ... weird: not good but not exactly bad ... just weird. It started off with me oversleeping -- never a good thing of course. Then stuff upon immediately entering the office: assistants screwing stuff up, parents acting a little nutty, cancelations. At one point I went out and asked my office manager if I could have a redo, just start the day over and things got better. I know I'm not describing anything that sounds particularly weird; but the whole day just had a subtle weird vibe to me. I can't explain it. A lot of this type stuff happens when we have a full moon (which we don't now) except then we also have a lot of emergencies too. My office manager first introduced me to the idea that weirdness happens during a full moon. My initial reaction was the generic skeptic response: you know, coincidence, psychological blah, blah, blah. Then I experienced a few genuine "full moon" days and I'm more a believer; but not. I keep wanting to find a scientific reason. I'll pseudo-argue with my office manager, "Ok, I can buy people, including me, are subconciously affected by seeing a full moon or something because we attach some kind of psychological meaning to it or whatever. What I don't get is how the moon makes kids' teeth abcess." Then she'll go on about oysters and stuff and totally lose me. {sigh} We never learned this stuff in dental school.
Anyway, I can't use the moon as an excuse for today. If I want to make it all more mundane, I'll just admit my best assistant wasn't there. She just does stuff to help make things run so much more smoothly. It's probably just the no-Carmen factor.
