April 13th

Sheepy (my bf's nickname) dropped by early in the morning, he played some igo on my computer while I studied in another room. He had gotten a haircut =), I gave him lots of hugs~ hughughughug *o* he looks a bit like Tres from Trinity Blood now =)

Since it was still Easter holidays, my uncle brought 3/4 daughters over. We had lunch together. It was the first time my cousins met my boyfriend, but they were too lost amongst their own conversations regarding the lost DS to interact with him. The youngest that was over, Yvonne was pointing out the loss of money due to the DS being lost. However, realizing she had incorporated only the materialistic aspects of value associated to items, without realizing what a 'gift' or 'present' is, I had a talk with her. Sally was visibly upset not because of the DS being lost, or stolen, or the money 'wasted' but because the DS was a gift from relatives from England. It was because the DS was a present that she was upset.

Yvonne couldn't grasp her older sister's predicament very well. I realized explaining that every time someone bought Yvonne something, that they bought it with money, yes, but they are not simply 'items'. We say thank you when something is purchased for us, not because of the monetary value behind the object, but because of the fact someone spent time and effort to be able to make money. But rather than spending on themselves, they decided to spend on another individual.

It's very hard to explain to such a small child, in her first years of elementary. Having to use terminology that a small child can conceive, I explained that a present is like a sticker you are given after you've worked really hard at school and spent time to be good at something. In the case of a present from her dad or mom, it would be that her dad and mom worked really hard to be able to make money, so that they can buy her a toy. Everything her dad or mom has given her, are presents. We learn to say "thank you" because we know that a gift could only be bought after working hard for money. I explained also the concept of reward, and the concepts of effort to her, these words weren't in her vocabulary.

So Sally isn't sad because of the money, but because that uncle from England gave it to her as a present.

I used to not like answering Yvonne's questions, she has a reputation of being a two faced child, who throws tantrums and cries when she doesn't get what she wants, and gloats when she does. But I think next time I'll see her, I'll read her some stories, I went back to my grandmother's not too long ago to find my childhood stories, such as Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, The Lion King (yes the book), and more...

Maybe it will do her some good =)

Justin (Sheepy's real name, GOSH), suggested I should look into developmental psychology. I wanted to take Children's literature too for English while I'm at it, however I worry due to being relatively stressed when teaching small children origami not too long ago.. Delinquent children mind you. University of Toronto holds joint programs with children organizations in the area, and Scarborough is a pretty bad area. However, it was mostly because the kids themselves seemed so troubled, so relentlessly aggressive to one another. Who knows maybe such courses will help?

OTHER HAPPENINGS DURING THE DAY IN TERMS OF HOW MUCH I SPENT:

Went to pmall:

obtained Shirley the Sheep from Shaun the Sheep and Bitzer the Dog gashapon~ total spent $4
played parapara and ddr and watched Sheepy play SF4. $4

Went to Splendid China Tower:

preordered Nana Cosplay based, Vivienne Westwood HorseHoof Ballerina shoes. $80, put down 5 to order them since they didn't have any in stock at the moment, so I pondered trying out the boots they have. The boots are $100 eek!!! If they're still around during summer I'll get them, and ponder Rachel Alucard cosplay ahaha...I need a job

*sighs* My mom gives me allowance of 40$ a week because my mom is a landlady for a few houses around University of Toronto (Scarborough and downtown), so because one of the houses is under my name, I get 40$ a week via from the rent.... or I need to learn to save ahaha

Konad nail stencil $12

I feel like giving myself a french manicure, maybe I'll teach my cousins how soon.

My coloured contacts came in~~~!!! for Kallen and Saber Cosplay, (green)

wheee my mom gave me a $30 while I was talking to yvonne, she asked me what it was for, I told her it's for food, so I don't end up starving myself because I am a picky eater like she is. It's not a bad thing, it just means we like some things other people don't, or do in the family. =/

Also mom's missing suitcase arrived from the airport! There was a fish comb, literally in the shape of a fish with a face and made of wood. Also lots of hair things from my mom.. and many many dresses.
If I feel like it, I'll post pictures of me in the dresses sometime ahah
