The ROM.
The ROM is the Royal Ontario Museum. I was there today and surprisingly so was a hoard of Americans which came accross the boarder and headed to Ontario Place (kinda like a harbour front) for some massive fireworks.
I went with a friend, also classmate to make some notes at the reference library within the museum for a project of ours for Eastern Religions.
The museum has gone through some crazy redesigns and now has a portion of massive metal and glass "crystal" exploding out of the Gothic architecture to include some new areas including a B2 which currently features hundreds, if not thousands of their latest featured exhibit found in b2... which IS (supposed to be) NOT family friendly, the wonderful wood prints and water colour scrolls as well as hanging scrolls of....

The paintings of the floating world, including geisha, courtesans, the emperors themselves (both chinese and japanese emperors of the various periods).. as well as famous concubine, even that of the Chinese renowned and legendary beauty, Yangguaifei. She's hot. No really she is. <3
While wandering the museum we searched high and low for this exhibit but when we reached it, I was somewhat disappointed. The staff members at the ROM are stingy themselves and pretty much displayed portions of scrolls with either demons (animal fluffy things) and little to no unclothed people. (there's taht one scroll..) I went to see hardcore oldschool Japanese porn, so I can laugh at the evolution of hentai deriving it's roots from ukiyo e. I found it amusing there were only maybe 3 other people than me and my friend wandering the exhibit. I have to admit though, the detail on the clothing and the gorgeous salt grain sized designs on some of the hanging scroll images must have taken a hell lot of time to complete. Some of the expressions on the subjects made me rofl. I don't know, Japanese and Chinese characatures with the large bulging eyes and the hairy small but built bodies with the large jug of saké always gets me laughing if I look at them long enough.
Regardless, if anyone has the time for it, I reccommend a trip to the ROM for hardcore oldschool japanese porn, especially on Fridays after 6 when the admission is only 5 dollars!
