Communication

I generally try not to post rants and vents (except against my immune system), but hey, I'm angry and this is a forum I can vent in, so I'm going to.

This is a subject that has been on my mind a bit lately.

I have seen, and felt, the problems that poor comunication causes.  Now some of the time, this is just accidental - but I'm talking about when people delibertly aim to misunderstand or wound others with their comments.  I consider this totally unacceptable.

In one case I saw two people reduced to tears at work; as a result of a colleague.  How unprofessional is that?  On the other hand, all it took to make someone else smile was 20 seconds and a picture.

I've also had some personal communications that have been downright offensive - certianly I can't see how else to take them.  Seriously people (of the world), how hard is it to make a tiny effort to be polite to each other - let alone friendly or even nice.

I know I always try to be polite and use at least neutral tones and language - even when that is flung back at me sarcastically, but I find it really sad when others don't even seem to care enough to try.  And swearing!  Now you've probably noticed that I do cuss a bit, but I hope you notice that I am restrained in my use of harsh language.  Yes there are appropriate times to use it to vent, but I don't think that using it against complete stangers - let alone co-workers or friends - is really appropriate.  Am I being too old fashioned with all of this? (please note that comments are enabled and welcomed.  I recognise my moral code is somewhat 'dated' by many peoples standard, but I'd like to think that is just part of my old-fashioned charm :)

So please, when you're going about life, just make that extra effort to make someone else day nicer (or at least not so crappy).
