Closing another folder, Nikita sighed in resignation. When she took over Section, she’d never considered the massive amount of paperwork that went into runny the facility. While she didn’t miss getting shot, getting shot at seemed preferable to the endless forms and reports.
As she reached for another folder, the small, tarnished, brass cleat caught her eye. It was from the sailboat she and Michael had tried out normal on. A leftover from much happier times.
It was a reminder of what was, a promise of what could be, a token that could hold their past and their future together.
