Summary: You just go about your business, I can entertain myself.”
“That’s what worries me,” Pepper muttered
“Tony, I don’t have time to deal with this now,” Pepper said, striding into her office.
“Pepper, what could be a better time?”
Over the last year more and more subtle hints of Pepper’s personality had made their way into her office. The space reserved for the CEO of Stark Industries was still tastefully decorated in cool tones, but there were splashes of color from the art work on the walls, the orchid on her desk its fuchsia flowers in full bloom.
“I don’t know; sometime when I don’t have the prime minister from India waiting on hold?” Pepper dropped into her chair and looked at Tony pointedly.
“You just go about your business, I can entertain myself.”
“That’s what worries me,” Pepper muttered, but picked up the phone and pushed line three.
Twenty-seven minutes, two games of pong, and reaching a new level on Angry Birds using only his left hand, Tony was starting to wonder if Pepper was punishing by staying on the phone longer than could possibly have been warranted for a new factory in Jamshedpur.
Bored with the games, he turned his attention to planning a party that would celebrate the achievements made by the employees within Stark Industries. He considered throwing himself birthday party, but he didn’t want to bring up any memories of what happened last year.
Also, having dinner with Pepper where all communication devices where turned off for several hours was an incredibly appealing alternative.
“Tony?”
“Sorry, lost in thought,” Tony said, shaking off the idea of dining naked in front of the fire.
“I bet you were.” From the faint blush and the way the corners of her mouth were turning up, Pepper seemed to guess at his thoughts.
“Don’t tell me you’ve never thought about locking that door and making me do whatever you wanted me to for you.” He grinned at her, deliberately letting his eyes drop to her breasts.
“I have thought about that,” Pepper said in a low voice. “I’ve thought about that a lot over the years.” She leaned back in her chair, eyelids drooping, and a wicked smile played over her lips.
Instantly, he was hard as rock and desperately trying to remember if they had locked to door when they entered earlier.
“What,” Tony had to clear his throat just to get air in. “What kind of thoughts?”
“Are you sure you want to know?” She leaned forward now, back arching, head cocked in a way she knew drove him wild.
“Absolutely.”
“Well, one of my earliest fantasies,” she drew out the words slowly, wet her lips and gave him a look hot enough to rival the sun.
In his chest, Tony’s heartbeat sped up to rival that of a jackhammer. Even after a year of being together like this, she still could turn him on with a certain look, a couple of words, the sway of her hips.
“Yes?” Tony all but begged.
“The one I’ve thought about the most over the years, dreamed of late at night, or when you’re sitting next to me in the car, playing games during board meetings,” she paused and raked her eyes over his body. “The one that makes me the most excited…”
“For the love of God, Pepper, whatever you want, it’s yours.” Tony was having trouble keeping himself from panting; the ideas that were swarming in his head of what she could possibly have not told him, that they hadn’t done in the last year were enough to short-circuit his rather impressive brain and sexual library.
“Is for you to spend several hours uninterrupted doing paperwork without prompting from me, without complaining, without running here and there for a pen, a different brand of coffee, spending ages on the Herman-Miller website designing the perfect ergonomic office space.” Pepper leaned back in her chair, smirking slightly and opened a file.
Tony knew his mouth was hanging opened, but there was nothing he could do close it. “That was just evil,” he stated. “And sneaking. I don’t think I like it when you use your powers against me.”
“Remember that the next time you think about sending sexually explicit texts during a board meeting.”
It wasn’t like he could help it; the board meetings where so boring, and there she was all prim and proper at the head of the table listening, making suggestions, running the company when just hours before she’d been in his bed, moaning his name as they had an incredibly stratifying quickie before work.
When she didn’t even blink an eye to his first suggestion, Tony had made a much lewder proposal. It wasn’t until the eleventh try, that Pepper needed to cleared her throat and subtly glared at him. Feigning innocence, he offered her a guiless smile and suggested a coffee break.
Payback was in fact a bitch, but making up was half the fun of riling Pepper up.
Signing her name at the bottom of a piece paper, she closed the file folder and looked at him. “Are you here for any other reason than to bug me?”
“No, not really.”
She arched and eyebrow at him, and Tony wondered what it said about him that he found that hot.
“Then I have a lot of work to do before I can head home.”
“Actually, yes, I do have something I wanted to talk to you about.” Tony searched wildly for anything that could legitimately keep in the office a little longer. “A party!”
“A party?” Pepper asked dubiously.
“Yeah, I was thinking a party for Stark Industries employees; a general one at various branches around the world that everyone is invited to and another more elite one that only select people can attend.”
“Select how?”
“We’ll make a weekend of it!” Tony said warming to his new idea. “Have supervisors and staff submit who they think deserves to go and why.”
“Why now?”
“Because it’s spring and spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’, now’s the perfect time.”
