Summary: Remus wants to make his report. Molly won't let it rest there.
His intentions were simple; he would find Molly, make his report and leave.
That was the plan. A good plan; direct, to the point. He would not linger- he would not allow himself to be fed and he certainly would not allow himself to be told about how “the Aurors” were doing these days.
Now, in the Weasley’s bathroom, he feels bewildered and a little foolish. Had he really thought that he could escape the mothering instincts of Molly Weasley?
Oh yes. He was in for it.
When he looks in the mirror he hardly recognizes himself. Dirt, grime, even a bit of blood, cover his face and beard. He looks like a hobo, like a beggar, and it’s no wonder she forced him in here.
But he has to admit, when he peels off his clothes and turns on the tap, the warm water feels amazing. Even the sting of soap suds in the cuts on his hands, arms, and chest feel strangely wonderful. The dirt washes off his torso into the drain and disappear.
Then it’s far too easy to see…
and remember.
As he enters into the kitchen, Molly has enough food spread on the table to feed all the poor in England- and in a way feeding him somewhat achieves the same end. She looks up with a smile, though it doesn’t reach her eyes.
“All cleaned up?”
Almost without thought, his hand brushes over his chest, over the whitening scars of bites and scratches and the purple bruises just starting to fade.
He wonders if he’ll ever truly feel clean again.
