When the metal giant’s echoing footfalls receded, Agent Sitwell rose from cover and looked at Agent Coulson.
“Flames,” he said. “Flames! Flames. On the side of my face. Breathing. Breath. Heaving breath.”
Coulson looked at the burning wreckage of a government-issue Acura, then turned back to Sitwell.
“This is not a good moment for clever quotations from popular culture, Sitwell,” he said sourly.
Sitwell shrugged. “Nobody’s dead. We’ve got to go stop that thing and I got no ideas how. If not now, then when?”
Coulson opened a car door. “I’ll be sure to include your levity in the sitrep.”
