Summary: Norathar takes a trip to the ocean-sea with friends.
In the heat of the summer, Norathar had talked Cawti into taking Vlad Norathar on a vacation in the northwest with her. It was peaceful to sit by the ocean-sea and watch her namesake play at the shoreline and watch Vald Norathar play in by the shore.
One of Vlad Norathar's regular activities at low tide was to built structures out of the damp sand near the water's edge, then valiantly build more earthworks to block the approaching waves, with a dedication that made Norathar wonder if he had been a Vallista in a previous life. Even a child as young as Vlad Norathar had to know about tides -- from observation, if nothing else -- and know that no pile of sand could stand against the might of the ocean-sea. He could build his castles higher in the dunes, where the tides never reached, of course. But still, he persisted in this activity, despite the transience of his construction.
A bit like all Easterners. Norathar had known Cawti for but a couple of decades, but seen her age visibly. And it was likely Vlad Norathar would grow from the small child who played by the seashore to an old man while Norathar hadn't even entered middle age.
It might seem hard to love them when you know they live so quickly, but Norathar found she couldn't choose how she felt.
