Dean was driving with the window rolled down. The heavy night air streamed past him, finally cooling down from the brilliant day that had asphalt melting under his baby’s tires. It smelled of growing grasses and flowers mixed in with the familiar scent of leather seats and sweat. Sam, snoring peacefully against the passenger door, drooling slightly on his own shoulder was sure to have a major crick in his neck once he woke up.
But that'd be for later, this moment right here belonged to Dean and the one girl who had kept up with him through all his life. Dean let his fingers glide over her gearshift and settled deeper into the seat, shaped to his body over long years. Just him and her, and a cool June night.
