L.A. Noire

I just watched the trailer. I'm a bit torn on my first impressions. The video major in me is really impressed with the attention to detail to turn of the century cinematography. And the fact that the trailer was built with in game footage is awesome, and showcases what the 360 and PS3 can do in terms of Polygon count.

On the other hand, It looked like I was watching a movie... if there was any gameplay footage it was lost on me. And the trailer seemed to be pumping the detective drama rather then the mystery. I don't own a 360 or a PS3, so I'm not getting the game anyways. But even if I did, the game has me really skeptical.

And in other news, I think I'm going to get 999: Nine Doors, Nine Persons, Nine Hours (Or some variation there of) next week for the DS. Looks like a blend of Phoenix Wright and some PC era Adventure games, with maybe a bit of Hotel Dusk or Time Hollow blended in set on the Titanic. It's an M rated title, which is quite outside my comfort zone, but playing the gameplay trailer, I haven't seen anything particularly worthy of an M rating.

The only thing that has me worried, is that 999's protagonist's girlfriend (jokingly?) wanted to bed with him... while trapped in a room, that's filling with water, that they were placed in against their wills. When the last roll call comes for the life boats, and the girl friend is no where to be found, I've got little left to the imagination.
