This Was Halloween...

After sitting it out for two years I returned to West Hollywood’s Halloween carnival because they were celebrating the 40th anniversary of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and was giving the key to West Hollywood to Tim Curry; also Boy George was performing.

*That’s Curry…believe me, it is.

Although the info was posted on the site they treated Curry’s appearance like it was a surprise. They showed a video retrospective of his career-he got mad applause for Pennywise the Clown in “It” and they showed clips from music videos he’s done. His voice is divine. They mayor of West Hollywood came out and they gave him the key to the city (which is why he asks, “Where’s the door”. Years ago he had a stroke and the rumor was that he was hidden away and didn’t want anyone to see him confined to a wheelchair but I’m glad that wasn’t true or at least if it was true at one point, he’s fine with being in the public now.

A bit after they finished the retrospective they brought out Laverne Cox who is taking on Dr. Frank-N-Furter in NBC’s production of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”.

If this clip of Laverne singing is any indication of her vocal talents this production will be one to avoid.

~I was going to meet up with a friend who was running way late so I began walking to the entrance to the route to see the other stages. I check my phone and she was already there watching Boy George’s performance so I had to duck, dive, shimmy, slide through the crowd to get to his set. I only caught the last two songs.
