That Other Fannish Show That Starts with a "S"....

Nov 11, 2014 18:26

The show “BrotherLovers and the Angel”…or rather “Supernatural” hits a milestone that “Smallville” hit. 200 episodes and still driving along possibly to a ::grits teeth:: 11th season. (at least “Smallville”s comic lasted longer than theirs).

Ahem. But I digress. The portly Jensen A(rbu)ckles is a “Smallville” alum and that means something to me.

So cheers “Supernatural” that deal with the devil in exchange for the show’s longevity worked out. Obviously the other side of the deal was that the devil is punishing Jared Padalecki’s hair but 10 seasons!!

And because I am me, a ride or die chick for “Smallville”, I cannot talk about “Supernatural”s 10 seasons without including that time Jensen Ross Ackles deigned to open his mouth about “Smallville” run.

Magazine
Last month you were picked up for a fifth season - that’s great news… How long are you guys contracted for?

Jensen: For six (seasons).

Magazine Are you happy to do six seasons?

Jensen: It all depends. If we do as well as we did this year, next year it will probably look like … I don’t know what (show creator) Eric (Kripke) has planned.

If he can eke out another season then we can probably go six. There’s a lot of x-factors, a lot of x-factors.

Magazine: Also, you don’t want to go too long? Smallville is now going into its ninth season, and it’s dropped off a bit. (dawnybee: Who asked you, hater?)

Jensen: Well Al (Gough) and Miles (Miller), the creators, aren’t even there anymore. That’s one thing … (dawnyb: And where is Eric Kripke?)

I love Tom (Welling). I think he’s got a great thing going on and I know that he’s made the most of his situation (which is great) (dawnybee: So great he eventually was made producer. Oops. Are you not a producer on “Supernatural” yet?) but at the same time, he and Allison Mack are the only two left from the original cast.

So, do I envy that aspect of it? No.

You know, I don’t want the show to change so much that it’s like it’s taken a complete different life of its own, which that one kind of has. (dawnybee: Having 70 plus years of history to draw from does that for a show.)

You know, they still get three-four million people watching every week … that’s business then it turns into a business. (dawnybee: And it’s business to stay on a show that pays you really well to eat craft services, hold up with your on-set boyfriend stroking his hair-on the head and the one down below because guys from Texas haven’t gotten too into that manscaping business-and parlay it into a vehicle in which you can supplement your income by doing conventions instead of getting a film in between seasons. Tom didn’t work much in between “Smallville” hiatuses but at least he returned each season looking hotter than hell. )

Holy schnickeys, do you remember this???!
