Yeah, I can see why that put you off Birdman - nothing like being sub-textually upbraided for enjoying the "wrong" sorts of films. Didn't realize it was that director. Not a big fan of him but hope it leads to more good projects for Keaton. Wish Soderbergh would get back to work and cast him again.

The Nightcrawler trailer looked great!

Oh, I abhorred "Babel" and couldn't sit through "21 Grams".

Yeah, the notion presented in "Birdman" that one form of art trumps the other, with theatre being the one held in prominence and sacred grounds that film actors shouldn't tread just annoys me to no end. Because even if it was an exaggeration in the film Inarittu truly holds that belief system of a hierarchy in these mediums. Elitism is the death of art IMO.

The one thing I'm glad about is that this film has people talking about Keaton again because he dserves it. I remember seeing him in "Night Shift" all those yeara ago and he still has that same verve. Just now he has to find a project to present it to the masses again.

It's a great film. It's right up there with Nicholas Refn-Winding's "Drive", but less noir-ish in tone. It's a great part for Jake and Renee.
