~Ring the alarm! Jared Padalecki said in an interview released the other day that he was confident that SPN would get an 8th season. I thought he was only saying that because he couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing Jensen every day. But it turns out he must have gotten word because while no pick up announcement has been made, it’s been reported that Sera Gamble is stepping down as showrunner and being replaced by former show writer/story editor Jeremy Carver, who left after S5 to bring “Being Human” to SyFy, along with his wife Anna Fricke

It’s terrible that there will be one less woman in a showrunner position, and I wasn’t a fan of Kripke so I couldn’t say what she did these past seasons were any worse than what he gave us. This season has felt pretty aimless IMO, but under her reign we got stellar episodes like “The Man Who Would Be King” (which I know some Castiel fans hated due to what his character did, but I loved the Dean/Castiel breakup), “My Heart Will Go On” and “The French Mistake” (which was written by “Ringer”s creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Synder. If/when that show gets cancelled, they should return to SPN). Though under her direction I’ve lost interest in the show and only watch it because I like watching men of the CW gain weight as seasons go on (Tom Welling for a bit, but boy did he rebound, David Boreanaz in latter seasons of “Angel”. Angel apparently was drinking sugar laden blood.) I think she should’ve been given an opportunity to turn it around. People are saying she just didn’t renew her contract but she was really excited about getting the showrunner duties and she loved the shows I just think that in order for S8 to get a greenlight, they had to do something about the ratings that drop each week.

*Emmy Magazine was released last week and they did a feature on CW President of Programming Mark Pedowitz. I was impressed at how he connected with the people on his network’s shows.

Excerpt
From Emmy Mag:

When “Supernatural Star Jared Padalecki first heard that the new president of the CW , Mark Pedowitz, was heading to the show’s Vancouver set last summer, he had the same reaction most people would have on hearing their boss was paying a sudden visit. “It was like that feeling you get when you’re driving down the road and a cop’s lights come on. It’s like, ‘What did I do? Was I late for work? Did I throw a tantrum in wardrobe?’”

His apprehension was appropriate, considering that during his dozen years in the business, he couldn’t remember any other network boss traveling to a set where he was working. But Pedowitz doesn’t operate like other network bosses. Upon taking over the CW from Dawn Ostroff last spring, he made it a point to trek around the U.S and Canada to meet the cast and crew of each of the network’s series. Why?

“I believe it’s important for the talent to know that you, as the buyer, care about what they do, “ says the soft-spoken exec. “It’s the courtesy they deserve. It’s respect.”

“We’d never heard of anyone doing this, “Recalls Nina Dobrev,. “ He stayed on the set. He hung out. He met everyone. He took us all out to dinner. He really wanted to get to know us, not just as actors and his employees. He wanted to get to know us as a people.”

“Pedowitz’s visit to “Supernatural” “made a tangible difference to our crew, “ Padalecki adds. “Everybody knows his name now. They know how supportive he is of the show. You can get a sense after six years on the air that you’re forgotten about (dawnybee: I wonder if it was one of these treks that Pedowitz realized that “One Tree Hill” was still on and returned to L.A to cancel it.), but then the big man shows up and you think, ‘Wow! They do care!’ Meeting Mark was like meeting up with a friend”

*The Paley Center for Media has an ongoing exhibit “Television Outside the Box” that they’re doing in collaboration with Warner Bros. The center will house props from WB produced shows such as…

Smallville!

*The exhibit goes until 2015, but I’m assuming they’ll rotate props out because I can’t see the same installation being there for that long.

*Last night Kyle Gallner appeared in a right creepy “Criminal Minds” episode helmed by Matthew Gray Gubler. Once more Kyle got his weirdo on. The other guest stars are Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund and Juliet Landau (Drusilla, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).

He tackled every creepy trope in this ep

Random Kyle pics

Kyle for Tyler Shields IIRC

Another SV alum, Jessica Parker Kennedy (Plastique) also did a shoot for Shields.

What is this even?

Next week: Shanola Hampton of “Shameless”!

I love her!
*Shanola and castmates Emmy Rossum and rumored boyfriend Taylor Jacob Moore who is now recurring on “GCB”

*Emmy made the cover of Vanity Fair’s Women in Television issue
(along with “The Good Wife”s Archie Panjibi, “Hawaii 5-0” Grace Park, “Revenge”s Emily Van Camp, “Scandal”s Kerry Washington, “Bones” Emily Deschanel and “Two Broke Girls” Kat Dennings)

*John Schneider was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/john-schneider-christian-films-pro-life-dukes-hazzard-306023 on the two Christian themed/pro-life films he’s appearing in: “Dooby” and “October Baby”.

*Serinda Swan, Zatanna Zatara herself attended an anniversary party for The Advocate and looked as beautiful as ever.

Serinda lost her “Breakout Kings” costar Laz Alonso recently. When I heard they killed off his character, I thought they were losing him to the movies. Not only because of the moderate success of “Jumping the Broom” but you can’t keep someone like him off the big screen.

Look at him!!

But Laz has just joined an NBC pilot starring his “Jumping the Broom” costar Megan Good. The pilot "Notorious" focuses on Detective Joanna Locasto (Good) who is recruited by her old flame, Detective Will Sacovitch (Alonso) to go undercover to solve the murder of celebutante Vivian Lawson, who was once her closest friend.

Sounds interesting enough. Too bad they couldn't get an actress who could actually act.

NAACP Image Award winners Archie Panjabi and Taraji P. Henson.

*With a week left before it airs, the CW has finally released pictures of Justin Hartley on “Hart of Dixie”, episode “Bachelorettes and Bullets”

Who wouldn’t want to play doctor with him?

Justin with fans while on location

~Set pictures and a promo pic of wannabe Oliver Queen, Stephen Amell of the pilot “Arrow” came out.

Meh

*The costume was designed by Colleen Atwood who created the costumes for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” There goes the pilot’s budget.

Practicing

Stephen and his Dinah Lance Katie Cassidy

I'm sure Stephen is a swell guy, but he's not Oliver, CW.

*The cast of “Wet Hot American Summer” got together for yet another stage reading of the film. This is the closest to the entire cast they’ve gotten, along with some special guests.

Still no Bradley Cooper

*Gale Harold gave an interview and mentioned his reason for doing the upcoming QAF convention in Cologne, Germany (and talked about that show he’s on ).

Fan Question: Are you looking forward to the QAF Convention in Cologne this Summer?

GH: Yes. It’s going to be nice to be back with my friends. We became quite a family. I’ve never actually participated in one of these things before so I’m not sure what it’s going to be like but it’s been the one that’s been presented so far that has a real relevance to the community that we’re going to be there in support of. It seems like it’s time now.

*I’m going to through “Gossip Girl” a bone. Not really GG, but Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle. I love these two despite only having watched the GG pilot They just look great together, how can people not ship these two?

*Smoking hot.

*Last week saw the three-year anniversary of Andy Hallett, (“Angel”’s Lorne/Host) death. Several of his costars tweeted their remembrances.

*Mark Lutz who recurred on “Angel” as Groo (and who I remember more from his one appearance on QAF) played linked to a blog post he made after Andy’s death.

”Everybody loved Andy. He made friends wherever he went, and I’m not just talking about passing friends, your run of the mill variety, but good ones, the kind that last a lifetime. Between his childhood friends in his hometown of Osterville, MA, and his adoptive home in Los Angeles - not to mention the ridiculous amount of people he met at the Angel conventions he attended in every corner of the world - he literally had friends everywhere. People often throw around the term “winning personality”, but with Andy, it was more than that. Andy’s personality was like a friendship smart-bomb. He could talk to anyone, of any age, any background, find a common thread, and within minutes make them feel as though they had been life-long friends. I know, I saw it happen a million times in person and moreover, it happened to me……

…The thing I’ll always remember and loved the most about Andy was watching him sing - he was born to do it. Andy was always outgoing and full of vitality, but when you got him on a stage, gave him an audience, and put a microphone in his hand - look out ! He absolutely came ALIVE. It was if he had received a shot of adrenaline. He radiated what show biz types commonly refer to as “it”. It was a raw and natural talent that he possessed, and I have little doubt it is exactly what Joss saw when he first dreamed up the character of The Host after seeing Andy sing karaoke at a local dive bar. And while Joss may have plucked Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan from the depths of his imagination - Andy’s personality and charisma made it his own.

After his passing I found myself thinking that I was really glad that some of the really important people in my life had gotten to meet him, my Dad, my brother, my little sister ; they all got to meet him and experience the joy that emanated from him on a daily basis. I’m really glad so many fans out there got to meet Andy at the conventions we always seemed to attend together. If you never got the chance to meet him over the years, I wish you could have, you too would have become friends immediately.
I miss my friend desperately, but I take solace in the fact that I KNOW, at this very moment, he’s singing somewhere. RIP my friend.

~Next weekend is the release of “American Reunion” that reunites the cast of “American Pie”---a movie I have never seen.

To commemorate the cast coming back together, here’s more cast reunions.

*Zach Braff and Donald Faison continue their bromance offscreen with this random video they shot during the holidays.

They are not going to let someone get between them

Zach and his girlfriend and Donald and his fiancee in Hawaii

at Zach’s play

*Someone tweeted how Donald was into the play Donald was.

It’s a Love Thang

*Know who it’s not a love thang for?

*Anne V is going to be saying this a lot.

Adam Levine and girlfriend Anne V are no more!

First Seal and Heidi Klum, Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth (now that’s really sad) and now Adam and Anne V.

Thank goodness for Dondre Whitfield and “Eureka”s Salli Richardson still going strong.

Salli also participated in the Michael Jordan Golfing event. Dondre..I guess is still living off of those “Cosby Show” residuals

Tony Danza and Judd Hirsch of “Taxi” last year at the premiere of “Anonymous”

*I’m sure I missed these eps.

“Absolutely Fabulous” returned for a few eps

As did “Red Dwarf”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was just one of the “Third Rock from the Sun” cast members welcoming costar Kristen Johnson to Twitter

Never Forget

Joe also had a tweet cute with Milla Jovavich

~I Leave
The Last Temptation of Clark.

Clark, have a seat, let’s talk

Uh..I don’t think it’s a good idea to sit. Talk.

Great. You can lie down and we can screw. Perfecto! Let me just move this drink…unless you want me to spill it on your naked chest and lick it off? Nah, these are new cushions.
