What I'm Watching...

Nov 15, 2011 11:43

As much as I’m enjoying some shows on television right now I’m not following them as closely as I did “Smallville”. Like I just realized that mid-season hiatuses are coming up and I do not care. When “Smallville” would be off the air for a month there’d be this disbelief, this despair over missing the show. These other shows---these rebound shows---I’m not concerned. “See you when I see you, ‘Pan Am’.” “Catch you on the flip side, ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Call me when L’il J(eremy) grows his hair out and becomes less worthless of a character.”

But there are shows that I look forward to.

* “A Gifted Man” on CBS on Friday nights. It’s not doing so swell ratings wise. There’s talk of cancellation even though CBS has ordered three additional episodes. I’m hoping that CBS gives it some more time. I think if they promoted it better it’d get a bigger audience. Starring Patrick Wilson as a hotshot neurosurgeon who is visited by his dead ex-wife and guilt tripped by the ghost into helping out at the inner-city clinic she founded, “A Gifted Man” doesn’t stand out like other medical shows: there’s no real sensational medical cases and tense operating scenes and there’s no love quadrangles like some other medical shows that should be cancelled (you own this “Grey’s Anatomy”), this is just a solid show about a man of science who is being pushed to be a man of faith and how those two worldviews push against each other.

* (not a newbie, but new to me since I’ve only begun watching this season) “Boardwalk Empire”. There’s been some really stellar episodes this season, mixed in with moderate ones. But even the moderate ones have great scenes that make it all worthwhile. Four more episodes down and I can’t imagine what will happen next. I just hope they address the wildly inappropriate Gillian Darmody is with her son. The hell? She really wants to be Mrs. Darmody to Jimmy, not by blood either. Even Lionel Luthor would think she’s too touchy feely with her son.

But of all the women on the show I’m enjoying the Darmody women storylines the most. Angela is now finally getting her voice and tiring of living a life of quiet despair and Gillian , first victim, then survivor and now poised as victor is really shaking things up.

*“Once Upon a Time”. Right now I’m enjoying it. I don’t know if it’ll sustain my interest because the reveals to me are very slow going. Was I supposed to be shocked that the Mayor and the sheriff are doing it? I assumed that from episode one. There’s other instances where the big reveals were so obvious that it seemed like time wasting. But it’s very good and I’m a sucker for anachronistic fairytales and pregnant!abandoned!Cinderella is that in spades.

Oh, is Jamie Dornan supposed to be an American on this show? It seems like his accent goes in and out.

But I’m digging their behind the scenes pics

Jamie and Prince Charming wrassling

Jamie and Jennifer mustache-off

Jennifer, you can’t fall for him, you’re with Amaury Nolasco. Don’t hurt Sucre like that.

My hope for their hiatus is that Jamie shed his hobo beard and get some more modeling in.

*Last but not least, “Revenge”. I’m so happy that a lot of my flist seems to be liking it. It’s an excellent show. Keeps me on my toes (did not see Nolan being a perfect Kinsey three coming)

That Nolan is full of surprises. That’s why he’s the boss

And the cast is all cute and stuff.

With Tyler Shields

Gabriel is a tweeting fool

Doesn’t Gabriel look like James Spader?

United by their shaggy, straw hair

*And before the show even premiered they did what all up and comers do-did a shoot with hack photog Tyler Shields

September’s shoot

Tyler’s themes are always phallic centered

November’s shoot

This shoot was probably killing Nick

The cast with Tyler Shields

My favorite shot: Emily and Gabriel

The men talk the show and friendship

*Looking for pictures of the guys I saw these pictures of Joshua and Amy Winehouse. He was rumored to be her boyfriend after one of her breakups with Blake (Incarcerated!). Josh denied that she was his girlfriend; saying that she was sweet but he wouldn’t date her. Maybe not but he sure holidayed with her more than likely on her dime.

Didn’t I say he was a charming devil at the Paley Center? He’ll charm your pants off and your wallet

*He was also rumored to have dated Miley Cyrus his costar in that Nicholas Spark film that did zero business.

Dude, aim higher!

~ NBC has released their schedule for mid-season and it looks like “Prime Suspect” has been benched along with “Community”. What this means after the mid-season shows are burned off is up to debate. “Community” may be brought back, though this does not look good for the show. “Prime Suspect” looks to be a goner.

*Russell Tovey gave an interview and tweeted that he is not returning to “Being Human”. He didn’t elaborate on if he’s not coming back for season four or if his departure will be after season four. It was hard enough thinking of BH without Aidan, but now a Tovey-less show? Unless they bring in Michael Socha full time, I’m not sure if I’ll be returning.

* FOX has given new details about the pulled-from-the-brink “Breaking In”. Megan Mullally (“Will and Grace”) will join the revamped show as Christian Slater’s boss. The show is moving from caper o’ the week theme to a more office environment show. Odette Annabelle will only appear in a few episodes as she has joined “House” and Joel David Moore and Michael Rosenbaum appear to be goners. Rosenbaum, however, is hard at work on

Rosey getting his director’s beard on at the release party for some video game named Skyrim

*For no reason, a picture of Annette and Michael McKean at his debut in “King Lear”
I’m loving the cut now

*SPN alums and Hangers On Update:

*Lesser Winchester Jake Abel may be the next Robert Pattinson---though he’s not that ugly. Jake is being discussed as the lead in Stephanie Meyer’s next terrible film adaptation of one of her books. Jake may play the co-lead in “The Host”, which has already cast Saorsie Ronan (“Hanna”) and Max Irons (“Red Riding Hood”)

*Chad Michael Murray is in a campaign for Chiroc with people infinitely more cooler than he is: Jesse Williams of “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Boardwalk Empire”s Michael Kenneth Williams and “Breaking Bad”s Aaron Paul and Jason Lewis.

*Sebastian Roche taking time off of begging for fan love on Twitter, begging for love at Cons

.. attended AFI’s premiere of “The Adventure of TinTin”. Baz does voicework for the Peter Jackson directed, Steven Spielberg produced film.

With costar Jamie Bell

*Jamie gave an interview recently talking about how men should know how to go down on women. And while I agree wholeheartedly, I don’t want to hear Billy Elliott talking about spit polishing anyone.

Go back to dancing, kid

*Misha Collins. Misha, Misha, Misha. Misha, whose future appearances on the show is up in the air, continues to do Cons where he tweets provocative and so true things.

He knows Jason is a ho

Takes pictures of Jensen’s liver spots

And yet has still found a way to find employment. Misha will appear on “Ringer”. Congrats?

*Jared did a Con where he was photographed with a dick in his hands.

Dick Spreight, that is. Dirty birds

Jared tweeted last week that one of his dogs, Harley, passed away.

*Papa Winchester was on Craig Ferguson recently plugging “The Texas Killing Fields”, a movie that came out in limited release starring JDM, Sam Worthington and Chloe Moretz. He was also there talking about baby Gus and his upcoming Starz series “Magic City”

~My feelings about Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been complex for about as long as he’s been in the business. He was the cute little Amish kid who had to marry Patricia Arquette in “Holy Matrimony”; who would faint due to stress. I thought that was cute. It was neat seeing morph into a hippie looking kid whose hair length nearly rivaled the women on the show. Then I was annoyed by him and thought he was a naval gazing super-serious pretentious little thing. And while I admired his acting chops (back to back superb films like “The Lookout” and “Brick”), I still didn’t care much about him one way or another. But now, I have this to say about Joseph “Joe” Gordon-Levitt in the way of the Na’vi: “I see you.”.

I can’t wait to be over this dude. I give myself a few weeks after consuming everything I can about him, then once I have my fill, I will then move on like a swarm of locust would.

Joe and mom Jane
*He did an interview in September with a local public radio station here in L.A and told how it held a soft spot for him because that is where his parents met. Even without knowing that I could tell he was from a crunchy, NPR listening type of family. It’s a beautiful thing.

Joe just wrapped his part in “The Dark Knight Rises”,

His parting gift

and has some big projects on the horizon. He’s playing Abraham Lincoln’s son, Robert in the soon to be shot Steven Spielberg film “Lincoln” starring Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field as Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. And the rumor was that he was in talks to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s revenge/Spaghetti Western flick “Django Unchained” which would reunite him with Leonardo DiCaprio (the film also stars Don Johnson, who stepped in when Kevin Costner had to drop out; Kerry Washington, Jamie Foxx, Sacha Baron Cohen, Christoph Waltz and frequent Tarantino collaborators Samuel Jackson and RZA). The rumor was confirmed in an interview with Anthony LaPaglia who said that Joe is playing his brother in the film.

(Sidebar: Joe was seen having dinner with Leo and Lukas Haas after the Victoria’s Secret show in New York. It seems Leo is on the lookout for his next model girlfriend. Lukas knows what’s up that’s why he’s following Leo to Sydney.)

And they brought along Ethan Suplee too of “My Name is Earl”. The people Leo hangs with.

When Joe isn’t acting, he’s doing his second job, running HitRecord, the mulitmedia collaborative, which garnered him an interview in Time magazine. Besides the website, and Twitter and Tumblr, Joe brings the content to the people with their Fall formal, symposiums and concert.

Like the Hitrecord Halloween show

Joe unwittingly hitting a kink of mine
*I wish his petticoat was shorter and that he was wearing ruffled panties or sheer stockings. Or even barelegged in garters but as Mick Jagger sang, ‘I’m not waiting on a lady/I’m waiting for a friend’.

Okay, maybe “You can’t always get what you want” is more fitting in this situation.

He’s such a minx

*Joe studied French at Columbia University. Watch him put that to use as he sings “Petit Soldat”

His other looks for the night

This pic was taken by Sean Lennon

Who also performed

Sidebar: I was always curious about Sean and Julian Lennon’s relationship. I know Julian did not like Yoko at all and when he would appear on Howard Stern it would inevitably turn into a gripe session about Yoko and how she got everything and he was sort of left in the cold. I was happy to read that he and Yoko have settled their grievances with each other for the sake of Sean. Despite Sean growing up in New York and Julian in the UK, the two had been close ( Sean, who has taken up the family business as a musician and artist, was taught guitar by Julian), but grew apart when Julian and Yoko’s feud became worse, of course over money.

*Young!Sean

2010: Sean, Julian and their mothers at Julian’s photography showing. In a show of true togetherness, even May Pang, the woman John Lennon left Yoko for two years attended.

Back in the day

Okay, back to JGL. He looks damn good in trashed makeup and caterpillar eyelashes, will be in some high profiled films…let’s talk about his sartorial sense.

Even looking like Pee-Wee Herman, I’m swooning
In H Magazine

For the LA Times

Did you know that James Franco was originally cast as Arthur in “Inception” but had to bow out to do “Your Highness”? “Your Highness”, a film that abysmal business. Franco as Arthur? He’d never make that zero gravity scene work as well as Joe did, but Franco does have that East Coast vibe about him (despite being from the Bay Area) like Joe and I’ve fanwanked that Arthur was from the East coast, like a Bronx kid. Went to the military, street smart and street wise but really disciplined with a weakness for British guys with lush lips.

*We can’t talk about stylish people without mentioning Duran Duran. The guys are still making music and have released a new video for their song “Girl Panic”. In an nod to their heydays, the men employed a bevy of beautiful women: real supermodels. Channeling the men Naomi Campbell is forefront as Simon LeBon, Cindy Crawford as John Taylor, Helena Christensen as Roger Taylor, Eva Herzigova as N ick Rhodes and Simon’s wife Yasmin as the nameless guitarist, a nod to the fact that they have an ever revolving lineup of guitarists.

*I hope they recut the video so that it’s straight up performance versus intercutting the interview with the performance.

And while I can go on and on about how gorgeous Naomi is, can we please talk about how her boyfriend built an Eye of Horus island home for her.

I can’t hate
