Also people in RL have severe problems with the "other" so I never saw it as making any sense to compound any problems people are already going to have with someone who's not only got powers but is also from a different planet. I think one of the mistakes some writers make is assuming that people will trust him simply because he's Superman, which I always found cart before the horse instead of earning and having to continually maintain that level of trust everyday.
Which is why the comic'verse dynamic between Lex and Clark was so interesting. Lex really is bewildered and angry that the citizens just trust Superman completely. To Lex he's intereferring in humans lives, he's a wild card. Lex recognizes that too much power can make a person go mad with it (ironic since he doesn't see himself as power mad). Clark has shown time and time again why he's trust worthy and why they're hope in him is not misplaced. I think that's a wonderful thing for Clark to recognize: that he has so much to prove why he has earned that trust. Writers think that uninteresting. I think it's laziness on their part.
Hmm, you may be right about her not being involved with Bane directly. Considering there's another pic where she's riding what appears to be the batmobile, I wonder how she got her hands on it: whether she "borrowed w/o asking" or Alfred or Bruce lent it to her for some reason.
