Last Thursday Dwayne McDuffie did the panel at the Paley Center for Media for “All Star Superman”, the animated movie that he wrote with work adapted from Grant Morrison’s comic of the same name. Sunday was Dwayne’s 51st birthday (though some sources say he turned 49). Monday he went in for surgery. Tuesday he passed away from complications from ( Read more... )

What a lovely obit/eulogy that you have written for Dwayne McDuffie. But it appears that you had an estimable subject.

Very much so. The work and the content of his character by all appearances is unquantifiable.

If you have a suggestion as to what you think is his best work, please let me know. I'll read that too.

I'm trying to think of specific JLA issues he wrote. He was a cowriter on The Black Canary/Green Arrow Wedding Special that I really loved, but I'll suggest ones that's strictly his that I liked. I'm going to catch up on his Milestone work.

Nicholas Cage has created his genre of Trash B Movies. I might check this one out when it comes on Pay Per View.

I really don't advocate people paying full price for this. Maybe when it goes to the local rundown theater where there's a double feature for a buck fifty and really stale popcorn. Maybe then. But its's stupid fun.

I have to say that I am leery of 3D movies. For some reason, I can never focus properly when I watch one of them.

I can't stop myself from doing, "Glasses on, glasses off." I'm going to get repetitive stress syndrome one day from doing that at 3D films. I like seeing how they look without the glasses.

3D is a Fascist for me. I prefer to let my gaze wander over all the screen, and that is difficult to do (for me) with 3D. I especially hate close-ups in 3D, because it narrows my field of vision even more.

STOP 3D!!!! FREE MY FIELD OF VISION!!!111!!!

James Cameron won't let that happen, sorry.

Haaaaa! Well, they certainly don't know you and your camera mishaps. If they did, they would let you use flash. ;-)

They should wave me through. I can't even record properly on my camera. I thought I recorded the "Hellcats" panel at the Paley, there was nothing on my camera. So I'm low-risk. Scratch that, no risk.

Jeff Winger doesn't like to give up Control (or Affection, as he sees it. Affection is a Control Issue with him. Witness his Daddy Complex.) Although I agree with you, Jeff Winger is getting soft, even though he is in control, so to speak, with the Study Group. He is the Daddy Figure and the Arbitrator of it.

And I think this season is about how he's still dragging his feet on that job while embracing it. Taking Chang in? Trying to stop Fat Neil from killing himself (the whole Skinny Neil/ "I don't see people through those lens" convo was so funny). To open yourself like that is a control issue, I suffer it myself but not to Jeff's Walled Off Degree. I'd happily let Troy in though.

Uh Oh! There are three non-white characters in this picture. That is ONE TOO MANY. And hey, where are their skateboards? Thank you Mr. McDuffie.

I'm sure the photographer probably tried to put one in Donald's hand...and he took it home instead. Because I bet he's a skater.

Mr. Glover, why are you so adorable?

He's everyone's pin-up now. If I were still in school I'd swap out my River Phoenix posters for Donald.

Tell the women to watch out for Dean's beer bottles!

LOL! Why do you think Lisa's moved on and Castiel loves him. He knows how to use a bottle of Michelob (Michelube?)

I'll have to give Shameless a look if I can find it somewhere on the lonely stretches of the Intertubes.

I know it's out there. I missed the East coast airing and I downloaded it that night. I'll find a link.

"Glasses on, glasses off. LOL
"Hair up, hair down" I started watching Arrested Development. ;)

But I do the same watching 3D stuff, just to see if it does make a difference. And when you are wearing glasses, as I do, wearing a 3D one on top of it, isn't really adding to the viewing pleasure.
