*The Golden Globes nominations have been announced. See who we’ll
no longer care about after Awards season.
Best Motion Picture - Drama
Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
*Just when I thought I was over analyzing the film, I read a review that suggests Ariadne was also an extractor and that Miles put her on the project not only for her architect skills, but because he wanted her to help Cobbs, which is why she was so persistent on him dealing with Mal. Damn this film!!
The King's Speech
The Social Network
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Halle Berry - Frankie and Alice (dawnybee: Saw it last night. Great film. Halle was excellent. Far better than in “Monster’s Ball” IMO)
Nicole Kidman - Rabbit Hole
Jennifer Lawrence - Winter's Bone
Natalie Portman - Black Swan
Michelle Williams - Blue Valentine
Michelle and daughter Matilda
(dawnybee: Disappointed by Rebecca Hall of “The Town” not being nominated. She was great.)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Jesse Eisenberg - The Social Network (dawnybee: I’m curious as how he will fair in the Oscars where there’s a wider voting body. Everyone I talk to who have seen the film tend to dislike it it because of Mark Zuckerberg and they hate the “character”. They seem to not be able to separate Jesse from Mark.)
Colin Firth - The King's Speech
James Franco - 127 Hours
Ryan Gosling - Blue Valentine
Mark Wahlberg - The Fighter
*It’s surprising and not surprising to me that Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t get a nomination. “Shutter Island” was released after the Oscars to give it room to compete in 2010 (the studio alleges, I think the studio released it in February because they didn’t have much faith in it) and that’s just too long ago to stay in people’s memories. But with “Inception”, you had such a strong script and concept that not even Leo’s star power could overshadow it. When I see people or hear people discussing “Inception” it’s always about the concepts and the visuals, not particularly the performances. Even though there were certainly great characters (when was the last time I mentioned that Tom Hardy and I kissed…on the cheek?), Nolan’s universe came first and foremost. It’s been a long time where a film that Leo starred in wasn’t just “A Leonardo DiCaprio film”, this movie was definitely a Nolan film.
Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
Alice in Wonderland
Burlesque (dawnybee: I heard this was really bad and not in a good “From Justin Love Kelly” kinda way.)
The Kids Are All Right
Red (dawnybee: HILARIOUS! I loved the film but you can tell the foreign press peeps just want to ogle Helen Mirren at the awards. )
The Tourist (dawnybee: Another film I hear is bad. Again it seems the HPFA wants to hobknob with Depp and Jolie. The French love Depp, he’s their honorary son.)
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
Annette Bening - The Kids Are All Right
Anne Hathaway - Love And Other Drugs
Angelina Jolie - The Tourist
Julianne Moore - The Kids Are All Right

Mila Kunis - Black Swan
Melissa Leo - The Fighter
Jacki Weaver - Animal Kingdom
Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Christian Bale - The Fighter (dawnybee: I hear it’s his to win. That his performance was outstanding.)
Michael Douglas - Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Andrew Garfield - The Social Network (dawnybee: I hope it goes to Garfield. He knocked it out of the park.
Besides the nomination, know what else was great for him?
Meeting Donald Glover who fans were pushing to play Peter Parker
Jeremy Renner - The Town (dawnybee: Hmmm. The film deserves the nom, but I don’t think he does.)

Simon Beaufoy, Danny Boyle - 127 Hours
Christopher Nolan - Inception
Stuart Blumberg, Lisa Cholodenko - The Kids Are All Right
David Seidler - The King's Speech

Tina Fey - 30 Rock (NBC)
Laura Linney - The Big C (Showtime)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Idris Elba - Luther (dawnybee: YAY!!!!!!!!!!)
*What does foine Dris have to say about his nomination?
My assistant was shrieking so loud I had to clean my ears out before I could understand what she was saying," says Idris Elba, calling from the London set of the BBC America drama Luther. Elba was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in a miniseries or TV movie; U.S audiences may know him best for his roles as Michael Scott's boss in The Office and his stint as Stringer Bell on HBO's The Wire.
"I'm flabbergasted and in shock," the East London native told USA TODAY's Marco R. della Cava this morning. "But at least I'm on set and I can channel that emotion back into my work."
Elba was particularly stunned by the company he's keeping in this Globe category, which includes nominations for Al Pacino (the Emmy-winning You Don't Know Jack) and Dennis Quaid (as President Clinton in The Special Relationship).
"Al Pacino? Never heard of him, who's that?" jokes Elba. "Seriously, this is a very humbling feeling. Every time you do a job you hope that it will be something special. I suppose this show may stand out a bit because Luther (a volatile and brilliant detective) is a breath of fresh air in these PC times. He will risk his life and his sanity to get the bad guy, and to see him explode may provide us all with some relief."

Some guy with cute, bowed lips

Hope Davis - The Special Relationship
Jane Lynch - Glee (FOX)
Kelly MacDonald - Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
Julia Stiles - Dexter (SHOWTIME) (dawnybee: Strange. I loved her character, but I didn’t find her acting compelling. The scenario, yes, but not her.)
Sofia Vergara - Modern Family (ABC)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV
Scott Caan - Hawaii Five-O (dawnybee: Wow. Where did that come from? Does the HPFA think they can do blow with Jimmy Caan by nominating his son? Though when I do watch H-50 I enjoy Scott the most.)
Chris Colfer - Glee (FOX)
Chris Noth - The Good Wife (CBS)
Eric Stonestreet - Modern Family (ABC)
David Strathairn - Temple Grandin (HBO)
This year’s Miss Golden Globe, a yearly tradition where the daughter of a performer ushers the celebs from the stage, is Gia Mategna, daughter of “Criminal Minds” Joe Mategna. I think she’s the one Joe says wants to marry Matthew Gray Gubler. Looks and brains.
Robert DeNiro will receive the Cecil De Mille Award despite inflicting “Little Fockers”, “Showtime” and “Stardust” on the masses.

Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner
Jeff and Garrett Hedlund
Garrett and Olivia Wilde
Daft Punk
James Frain, “True Blood”s Franklin
Comedian Tommy Davidson and look-a-like son
Joe Jonas who I am getting so tired of

He was on “Top Chef” as a judge, he’s at every red carpet event. I’m so over him…
Or maybe not
*Lynda Carter was on hand for the Kennedy Centers Honor.
How did Gabe Sullivan pull this babe?
No Doubt was also there. I hope Gwen can be as wonderful (see what I did there?) as Lynda when she gets to be her age.
Chris Rock who looks surprisingly handsome. Love the Malcom X goatee
And Diana Ross was among the honorees.

*Every night this week, the CW will air two episodes of “The Vampire Diaries”. To prepare, Hollywood Life came up with a TVD drinking game.
The Rules
Take a half-shot…
*Every time Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) gives a pained, emo look. (And take the second half of the shot if the look is followed up by any sort of hair flip.)
*Every time Jenna (Sara Canning) makes a comment that reminds us all how utterly clueless she is to all things supernatural in Mystic Falls.
*Every time Damon takes a full shot. Be prepared, he does it a lot.
Take a full shot…
*Every time Damon makes his trademark crazy eyes.
*Every time Bonnie (Katerina Graham) grits her teeth.
*Every time Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) contemplate breaking up.
*Every time you mistake Elena for Katherine… or vice versa.
Drink everything in the liquor cabinet…
*If you ever actually see Elena writing in her diary. (That thing’s getting seriously neglected.)
**I suggest you amend to add "Take a shot each time Jeremy gets choked/punched.
Suggested Drinks:
“The Damon” (an HL original!)
1 oz. Grenadine
1 oz. Sambuca
1 oz. Southern Comfort
“ The Washington Apple”
1 oz. Crown Royal
1 oz. Sour Apple Pucker
1 oz. Cranberry Juice

Okay, I kinda like this one

The Real McQueen
Evgenia Peretz and Mark Seliger spotlight Vampire Diaries star Steven R. McQueen. (Yes, his grandson.)
`
January 2011
The Vampire Diaries, in its second season on the CW network, is what the kids, apparently, have been waiting for: sexy vampires who actually have sex (or come close)-and also murder one another and trade wiseass zingers. Lending some nuanced humanity to this naughty mix of Twilight and Gossip Girl is Steven McQueen (grandson of film star Steve McQueen), 22, who plays a newly orphaned teenager on a lonely quest to fit in and find himself.
It’s been a therapeutic journey for the young man, who has led his own roving existence. His parents divorced when he was young. While his father, Chad McQueen, threw himself into the car-racing world (his own father’s chief passion), Steven was home-schooled and moved from city to city with his mother and stepfather, Luc Robitaille, a professional hockey player. “When we were living in Detroit, I had a real lack of direction,” says McQueen. “I started watching movies all day long,” including those of the grandfather he never knew (The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, The Great Escape).
With his passion ignited, he moved back to Los Angeles and started taking acting classes. “I watched my grandfather’s projects with admiration and looked up to him, but at the end of the day you have to be true to what’s inside,” says McQueen-and that meant going for material that was as dark as possible. After a stint on the WB drama Everwood and the recent movie Piranha 3D, he found himself up for two shows, Melrose Place and The Vampire Diaries. He chose the latter, he says, because his character, Jeremy, “was as messed up as possible in the head.” As for going through life with the same name and calling as his iconic grandfather, he says, “Luckily, I’ve got a generation gap between me and him. But more than anything it’s a little fuel in the fire.”
~I leave town and what happens? Bad stuff happens. Bad stuff like Leslie Nielsen dying (for years my sister would die laughing and impersonate Frank Drebin as an umpire in “The Naked Gun”) and the boys of “Supernatural” winning over “Chuck” and “Smallville” for the cover of TV Guide. But whatevs, it’s not like the cast of SV would’ve done a shoot and it’s not like TV Guide gave it to them because they felt the show warranted it (despite TV Guide’s claim they got the idea during Comic Con where they realized genre shows weren’t getting recognition). They got it because Misha knows where all the TV Guide bodies are buried..
Which still didn’t get him on the cover

~What is Affairs Magazine? I haven’t the foggiest. But they interviewed Matt Cohen, so I’ll accept this fly by night trade.
Young Sir interview *The CW have released their midseason lineup with “Life Unexpected” exiting the schedule. The talented Kris Polaha has signed a holding deal with CBS so hopefully he’ll be back on TV soon. “Hellcats” is moving to Tuesdays.
“One Tree Hill” confoundedly still remain on the schedule.
~For life after “Smallville”, the CW is looking for a sci-fi fantasy show to fill a void. The network has announced plans to develop a series focusing on Teen Titans’ Raven to the small screen.
Who is Raven?
*Leighton Meester announced she will be leaving “Gossip Girl”….in two years when her contract is up. In two years the show will probably be off the air and we will be taken over by monkey overlords. Two years. She predicts the show will go out on top, which is weird because doesn’t it have to be on top to remain on top?

*Still from the not at all homoerotic “The Fast and the Furious: Fast Five”
~Love doesn't exist, ya'll. Scarlett Johanssen and Ryan Reynolds have separated, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are divorcing and Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have broken up. Quick, check on Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift. Make sure they're still lovey-dovey.
