I'm not as upset as you are, but I am disappointed. I've enjoyed many of the romantic moments this season, but I thought once he told her his secret and they did the deed, we would move on to storylines that focused on Clark's development as a superhero, and Lois's as a journalist. Instead it's becoming more and more apparent that Clark can't make a single move without Lois these days, and that the show is about their romance, first, last and always.

I shouldn't read interviews with Brian and Kelly, I know better, but this quote today is what really brought it all home for me (casting SPOILERS for Friday's episode):

Well, we've been wanting to bring Aquaman back for a while, and we just found that the right way to bring him back was with his wife Mera, because it really shines a light on Clark's relationship with Lois. It makes the story very much about Clark. Now I'm depressed. I think the engagement was wholly unnecessary, and I think it was done because so many Clois fans were desperate to have it. He proposed to Lana (twice ( ... )

One would think. Because this should all still be part of his journey, instead they're stockpiling everything in at the last minute, sacrificing real character development just so that they can say they ran a gambit of Superman lore. Which was unnecessary because this show was touted as a story about Clark as he became Superman.

because it really shines a light on Clark's relationship with Lois.

Because that's been so lacking.

Now I'm depressed. I think the engagement was wholly unnecessary, and I think it was done because so many Clois fans were desperate to have it. He proposed to Lana (twice), so he has to propose to Lois, too. I even saw comments gloating that "we won." Hello? It was never a competition.

Oh FFS, so ridiculous.

And please, please, please, as I already said in my Ambush review, spare me the Very Special Wedding Episode.Unless it ends ( ... )

EXACTLY. It's not that I don't want the show to explore their relationship, I love their scenes together for the most part, I just don't need them to be so unrelenting with the romance. Clark and Lois both are so much more than one half of a couple.

It's the rut writers run into when they delve into relationships and I could understand this focus if this was brand new, but Clark and Lois has been doing this dance for roughly 2 1/2 seasons. So it's not like they're just discovering each other, they're just putting actions behind it. I focus on Clark's inactivity, but isn't Lois the roving reporter who's always chasing a story? Where has that Lois been these past few episodes? If they want to turn the rest of the season into "RelationshipVille" then that's their prerogative, but I hope TPTB spare us the shock and dismay when some fans call it boring and derivative.

As I said in my review of Harvest, I don't have a lot of patience for the idea that their romantic relationship is or should be the primary focus of their story, both jointly and especially individually. Harvest actually upset me because here was the show's first opportunity to do a story where Clark and Lois work together as a viable team ... They could have been looking into the fact that for the past 19 years, a young woman has disappeared in, near or while traveling by that town as an actual story, or because one of the girls' relatives came to them after feeling like the police simply weren't doing anything to help. This is what is so killing: what you lay out is plausible, a great way of showing them doing their job; it’s effective as an Halloween episode where it’s a standalone outside of the arc stories about the Suicide Squad and Darkseid, and do the writers chose to explore that? No. They used the idea of the Harvest as a centerpiece to…I don’t even know what. Show how Lois is so proud of Clark’s abilities? As a long, ( ... )

Lex Luthor was having an S&M school boy affair with Ollie Queen that branded him

Which is why Lex didn't move after the first 15 kidnappings and pistol whippings, that' the kind of games Oliver, Alden and his crew would get up to.

and there is an Ollie Brand on his right buttock.

Is it of Oliver's stupid family crest with the deers or the bucks or whatever the hell it is in his office?

Clark used to trace it with his finger before he put that finger elsewhere and Clark would lick it before he put his tongue elsewhere

Underage!Clark rocks!

"I will teach you the Meaning of MEANIE!" says AI Jor El.

He has proved it by taking away Clark's suit, his freedom (ice time out Clark will never cease being funny). I wish he's snatch his new jacket.

Tess and Lois have been fighting in the basement of the Daily Planet for years. Oh wait, the first rule of Fight Club is that we don't talk about...Nevermind.You can buy Tess' eyecamera footage at your local sex shoppe. It's paired with Pete Ross XXX (and it's slightly worse than the episode ( ... )

As much as I love the two of them--and it's only this incarnation of them because I'm not a Lois fan as such--I think it's ridiculous to focus on their relationship because that's not the point of the show!!! I kind of expected more tap-dancing between the two of them. :(

And this is why I try to keep in mind to respect everyone's opinion of the pairing because just because it doesn't work for me, I can't say it's bad--it's just doesn't work for me. I'm a Reeve/Kidder gal and I know people hated her Lois and hated his Clark (but loved his Supes).

I think it's ridiculous to focus on their relationship because that's not the point of the show!!!

There's a reason I didn't watch "Lois & Clark", there's a reason I don't like rom-coms. I came to this show for the legend (okay and the hoyay I had read about), not this.

I kind of expected more tap-dancing between the two of them. :(

That's what I was hoping. It's like Souders and Peterson wants the crown to say that they got Clark and Lois to the altar on SV. I bet AlMiles wouldn't have even had that on their radar for the final season.

the idea of having to have it possibly beaten over the head for the rest of the season aggravates me to no end.
It's taking up space that could be used for more compelling plotlines. Like wouldn't Clark have kept on investigating Godfey, done some follow-up on the Lex clone? Maybe Lois could be gunning for her first Pulitzer? I have a feeling that wedding planning scenes and a Trying on Dresses montage awaits us instead. After ten years, the law of diminishing returns sets in: so much of this I feel like I've seen on SV already.

Especially when, like so many other shows, the writers don’t know how to juggle the romance storyline with the active plot storyline. Instead of using their romantic relationship as ambiance to the show, they make it the focus of Clark and Lois’ storyline.
They used to know how to do it, back in S1 - 3. The show had its romantic moments but these were tucked in among the larger plot, as we followed Clark from scene to scene. And "Rabid" last year struck the right balance, with some romance among the zombies.

Wouldn't Lois had as well? They even had her going after Ray Sacks in two episodes and here's another guy who tried to kill her and they don't follow up with that?

I can see the Chloe/Lois "Bride" scene except put Martha in there and bam, same. story.
