Career Paths.... chatchien June 10 2010, 11:08:20 UTC
You're not the only one who likes Ashton
Kutcher and thinks that he could be a bigger star.
He is like Jennifer Aniston to me. Fine on TV but very bland and uninteresting in a movie. There is nothing under the surface that a movie viewer might find interesting. But on TV, no one is looking beneath the surface, so it doesn't matter.

That said, Mr. Kutcher is a good businessman and PR guy. His willingness to put himself out there on Twitter and in the premiere lines for the fans reminds me of Joan Crawford. That lady never forgot her fans.

Peter Berg is a frequent partner of Carnahan and Berg also wrote the first draft of “The Losers”.

Peter Berg is a guy who I thought would never have the career that he has. Writing and producing, he is responsible for some good TV, Friday Night Lights, and Lars and the Real Girl, movies.

As for the similarities of The A Team and The Losers, I don't think that any of those guys will be suing each other for the ideas in their films. What surprises me is that the studios would green light both very similar films. Because one is going to fail. There is all that history behind making similar films and one will always be box office poison. Its Selznick's Law or something. The Dangerous Liaisons films as an example and there are many more that fall into this category that I just can't bring to mind right now.

Here's an informative article about all the writers for The A Team. Carnahan and Bloom were just two of twenty or more who all had a pass at the script. The WGA gave writer's credit to where the Eight Ball and their psychics revealed.

Why is Common wearing a shirt in that poster?

Why does Mr. Macchio look exactly like Jackie Chan in that first picture?

Okay, I wouldn't go as far as to say Clark Gable (despite never having seen a Clark Gable film in my life), but he is a classic leading man and I wonder why he doesn't pursue that path more. See, I'm not alone in my like of Ashton.

I think he falls back too much on standard Kutcher-isms: I remember when I saw "The Butterfly Effect" and he was very capable in that role, very dramatic but at one point he did one of his standard moves, breaking character IMO. But I tend to find him likeable and likeable may not win Oscars, but it I think it lends to a Every Man appeal and I think that will give him longevity than Action Hero and Leading Man which all have time stamps seemingly.

Or her hatred for wire hangers.

Very pleasant surprised. I'm happy for his success. I had no idea that goofy guy from "The Last Seduction" had all this genius in him.

Antz and Bugs Life, there was one recently that lost out big time, it was to come out around the time of "Eagle Eye" and it was so much like it and it just ended up going to DVD.

Thanks for the article. If those three got the credit it means they proved that they did the majority of the script and overhauled it considerably. I wonder what the other drafts looked like: cannon fights, flamethrowers? I agree with the article that it's a lot for nothing in that they could've gotten an original script instead of having to try to adhere to this remake.

To tease me! The quandary is that he's shirtless in the film but he's really skinny, but he looked smashing in suits. Smashing.

You just wrote the sequel to the Karate Kid 2. Send your comments to the WGA, East. It's going to come out that Mr. Miyagi and Daniel's mom hooked up and that's why he trained his boy child with the terrible Bronx/Brooklyn accent.

I love the colors, but I don't know if I can get behind this film. Not even with Garrett Hedlund's butt looking swell clad in that bodysuit. Maybe I just talked myself into seeing it.
