~The Siegel heirs have wrestled yet some more
Superman rights from WB for the earlier work that Siegel and Shuster had done on a work-for-hire basis. The Siegel family now now control depictions of Superman's origins from the planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lora, Superman as an infant, the launching of the baby Superman into space and his landing on Earth in a fiery crash.
It’s not in the Hollywood Reporter article, but Newsarama and other comic sites write that this latest win for the family came about from a comment that was left on Newsarama’s site when they posted the last judgment a few months back. Either someone submitted it to the family or they family keeps up with these types of site, but that info was forwarded to the family and they went back to court. The interwebs = srs bizness.
~New casting info for Smallville S9 as well as
clarification from Brian Petersen about the tone of S9. Since both are spoilery I’m discussing it in my hand-dandy
SV and SPN Spoiler Dumping Ground. Spoilers. ~Kryptonsite
has a SV S8 DVD review. Commentaries on the DVD include "Identity" with Cassidy Freeman, director Mairzee Almas (who is nominated for a Directors Guild of Canada award for the eppy), and Executive Producer Brian Peterson, and "Legion" with writer Geoff Johns, Executive Producer Darren Swimmer, and supervising producer Tim Scanlan.
I wasn’t waiting for a Tom commentary, but no Justin? That hurts.

*The guest star list for this season of “Psych” will include James Brolin, Christine Baranski, the return of Rachael Leigh Cook as Shawn’s girlfriend and Sendhil Ramamurthy of “Heroes” . The episode that Sendhil will be featured was directed by Sendhil’s cousin Jay Chandrashekar, who will also appear in the episode.

Michael Strahan and Darryl “Chill” Mitchell of “Brothers”.
Don’t ask me what football team he played for, but there is something about Michael that I adore. For a long time I feared for him because of his relationship with Eddie Murphy’s ex, Nicole. She looks like she could take him down, deploys some fangs and then devour him. But checking her Twitter page she seems nice and normal.
*I read an interview with Strahan about the show and he said that there will be a lot of jokes made about his gap-tooth and also a few wheelchair jokes about Darryl and I just don’t think I’d like seeing that. Making obvious jokes about his gap is rude and obvious, but lazy. And although I’m sure there will be some room for comedy with Darryl, there’s not much of anything funny about making fun of people in wheelchairs. I hope Darryl or Michael advocate for themselves in the writers room.
I noticed on Darryl’s Twitter page that he’s following his “Veronica’s Closet” castmate Dan Cortese. That made me crazy happy. Their characters were like JD and Turk and a less absurd Gus and Shawn.

*This has become my summer song since it’s the only one that has really captured my interest (I don’t think I’ve listened to the radio all summer though). It has all the things I look for in a good summer song: it makes me happy, it makes me want to dance and it has a great hook.
Knocks You Down-Keri Hilson ft. Ne-Yo and Kanye West *I love the song “Drive” by The Cars. It’s not just the best Cars song, but one of the best songs in general. Other than a sweet, decent cover by Katrina Carlson, I didn’t know anyone else who had tackled it. The Deftones covered it a few years back on their B-side and Rareties cd. Their cover isn’t as impressive as their original song “Drive (Far Away)”, Chino Moreno’s mellow take on it and the light drum and guitar in the backing track doesn’t try to mimic Benjamin Orr (because that’s impossible) but serves the song well.
Drive-The Deftomes (Cars cover) *Heard this song at the end credits of an episode of “Hung”. There’s a lot of great music coming from that show. Too bad I can’t take more than a scene of it a week.
Walk Away: Joseph Arthur *I recced these this week. Dead Man’s Bones (which will forever be called Ryan Gosling’s band)
My Body’s a Zombie for You and
She and Him’s Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? *It bugs me when people rave about Radiohead newer material as if The Bends wasn’t valid. I think it’s because people think they should hate on simply good alt-rock/Brit pop or pop in general. But I am slightly ashamed to like simple rock like Lifehouse and Nickleback (but not all Nickleback-I do have standards), so that’s why I’m redfaced about reccing these two songs. Safetysuit sounds like Matchbox Twenty.
Stay-Safetysuit and this song whose video that my niece played continually when she visited me.
