Prison Break, Prop 8...

Nov 13, 2008 14:00

~This may be “Prison Break”s last season. The actors on the Fox drama have been notified by 20th TV that the filming schedule might be extended to accommodate production of two additional episodes. "Prison" writers are yet to pitch ideas about the extra hours, but speculation is that they might serve as a conclusion to the four-year series.

If the two episodes are made, their fate is unclear as the network has not committed yet to air them, though conversations with the studio are under way. A more plausible scenario has Fox airing the two episodes as a two-hour "event" next season, not unlike the "24" prequel this fall. Or the episodes might end up on the "Prison Break" DVD.

If it's true, maybe it's for the best. I've really enjoyed this season and I think they can't sustain the theme any further. Maybe in the final Sucre will finally get his "papi" exactly where he wants him and they can drive off in the sunset together.

~There will be a new gay superhero in town (see Superman, you're not alone). Stan Lee will produce an hourlong series for Showtime that focuses on an up-and-coming superhero who struggles to hide his secret identities, is based on the book "Hero" by Perry Moore.

~Another superhero has landed a gig. Alan Ritchson has joined the cast of a Lifetime movie named “Midnight Bayou”. The announcement in Variety was so short that I thought I had accidentally erased the text when I copied and pasted it. No mention of Smallville in his credits. Not even…that slasher film whose name I can’t recall and was really bad.

~Across Los Angeles and in many other cities, I’m sure, have been protests against the passing of Proposition 8. This Saturday, November 15th will be a day in action to join in protest against his unjust proposition and the campaign of intolerance.

This list has a furor in for one restaurant here in L.A. As a matter-of-fact, there is a email trail a mile long in my inbox with my coworkers and their friends talking about a restaurant we’ve all frequented, El Coyote, whose management, a devout Mormon, donated money to the Yes campaign. Of course a boycott was called on El Coyote. The consensus among the emails is that we’ll miss their great margaritas, but the food’s lousy, so no great loss.

El Coyote must have caught wind of the fallout because the manager called a press conference and just made people angrier.

Initially they offered free lunch to on Wednesday to gays and lesbians. I asked my coworkers if I made out with a woman could I get in on this too. Just bring me Jada Pinkett-Smith and I’m there.
