Hi dawnybee,
I was there too and I could kick myself for forgetting that you would probably be there as well and emailing you ahead of time.
I was in LA visiting my daughter for my birthday week.

Your recap and description of the evening was so right on I cant add too much but I'll do it anyway.:)

and whoops when I tried ot post it It had too many words so I'll break it up into two posts.
( I dont know if I can put it under a cut in a response but if so, yell and I'll fix it.

I had to wait on line for a door ticket but luckily a woman who is a free lance photographer and couldnt attend the film gave me hers but I didnt use it rigtht away but waited for my friend to score one alomst at the last minute.

We went right in to get a good seat. instead of staying outslde for the arrivals. Most of the photogs who were lounging around the line and who I was chatting with were --excited about Drew Barrymore :)
I guess they live on another planet. :)
the woman who gave me her ticket sure as hell had her priorities straight though-- she was excited about Peter's debut :)

When Peter came up to the stage all choked up and almost in tears it set me to crying too - I was choked up for most of the film. I couldnt even laugh at the funny parts -didnt even find them funny until I saw it the second time the next night..
And now I remember why I usually prefer to sit alone:)

except of course, when there was that giant screw up and the beginning and Peter enacted the first scene of the film it cracked me up.

I know that there are other premieres where friends and fans applaud the actor with whistles and cheering, but I have never sensed so much affection in the room --the man is like a love magnet:)

Peter dealt with a very touchy issue and he did it so artfully with extraorinary finesse, that it struck a nerve I am still reelilng from. --as he said--he was fearful of not getting funding because of the reaction people have to not only the issue but the word itsellf.

IF ANYONE HAS THE CHANCE TO SEE THIS FILM AND DOESNT TRAVEL TO TIMBUKTOO TO SEE IT if they have to will suffer the pangs of regret forever:)
And if they are Peter fans it will haunt them forever: as well)

and if anyone *has* seen it --they would do Peter a mitzvah by going over to the imdb.com site and voting for the film and writing a review no matter how short it is.

I'm not an avid Peter Paige fan or at least havent been until now, I had never met him before and was struck by how --how strikingly different he is from the part he plays.--in every way including how great looking he is.
I knew he was very bright and articulate from the interviews he's given but I had no idea of the range of his talent or depth of his artistry.

He never got the chance IMO to show how talented he is on QAF.

Yeah I'm rambling but this is the first time I have really been able to put my thoughts and feelings into words on cyber paper.so bear with me if you will.

I dont want to ruin it for anyone so all I will say is what the reviews have published already--that it is about a gay man falsely accused of pedophelia [ not a bit unusual ] and the misinformation and misconceptions that are rife out there in the public..

to be continued ---groan;)
