I know it's awkward commenting on indices but omfg Joanna Newsom. That is my most favourite song ever please be a Newsom fan I'll love you forever I don't know anyone else who likes my kind of music.

I LOVE JOANNA NEWSOM!

Only Skin is also one of my favorite songs :D I was listening to her in the car the other day and my grandma said she didn't know how to sing. This happened with everyone in my family >:(

asdf yes. Someone told me to listen to her after finding out I play the harp because apparently she's a prerequisite and I listened to Peach Plum Pear and hated it. I'm primarily a classical singer so obviously I thought it was the most awful thing ever, but the actual song was so catchy I had to listen to her more. I realise now that she's a great singer with a terrible voice. I think she's amazing in the way she makes up for her bad voice by turning it into a positive thing and making it part of her unique sound and packing it with so much expression. The music industry is filled with bad singers with good voices so it's nice to see someone bucking the trend. Plus she's a damn fine songwriter. I saw her play last September and it was the most amazing thing ever but she didn't play Only Skin. We did get Baby Birch, though, and I'd say that's on the second tier. If you're a pianist and haven't been to JNTP yet I suggest you go there right now and PRINT ALL THE SHEETS.

Oh I totally didn't get her at first either! I thought, why do people like this??? But I also kept listening and I love all the different ways she sings. I don't necessarily think she's a bad singer but I don't really know a lot in the technical parts of it. I have a good voice (or at least, according to my musical/theater teachers over the years) but I never bothered to learn to read music/name notes/etc because I never wanted to do anything with it, so I mostly just try to imitate what I hear-- which is good for acting but not so much else. So it's good I'm going to be a librarian! :P

And yes ugh she has such beautiful lyrics and they are so. damn. catchy.

I would love to see her live. I'd love to even buy a t-shirt but I can't even find her website. I don't even know if she has a website. Joanna, why don't you be more organized??
