so we got dressed (warmly) and headed over to a local winery for the most AWESOME festivities of the day.
(football game? what football game? was there some kind of football going on? lol)
i imagine the winery would have been more crowded had there NOT been a game going on and the band was telling people they could come up to get the score, but were asked NOT to announce it because people were DVR-ing the game. whatever. we (i assume none of us in our group) are not football people. i didn't even find out until the next morning that we even won and i don't know the score or how close it was. but yay! we won. that's enough for me. meanwhile, i was having an AWESOME time and i had ... some wine. lol
a few friends met us at the winery to help me celebrate the day with Wine Tasting, Chili, and live music (which didn't suck! it was kinda folksy and not too country.) the chili was awesome, too. beef chili was the least spicy, then pork chili was my favourite, then vegetarian chili which i thought would be the most bland was the MOST spicy and i stupidly added hot sauce to it without tasting it first. haha. that'll l'arn me. it was still very very good though. thank god for chips and cheese on the side. and wine. i had ... some wine to go with it.
i did the wine tasting of course. and we (okay, my friends and TWD) bought bottles for the table. i had Wassail, Jazzberry, Peach, Eisling, Vidal... was there more? probably. i didn't have FULL glasses of each, but i was feeling SO HAPPY!! wheeeee....
we were just laughing and talking and listening to music and talking about trucks and snowmen and the expertise doing something for FIFTY YEARS which still makes me laugh. i cracked up in the car thinking of that again. omg. i haven't laughed so hard in ages. my sides hurt and i was crying. annnnyway... ;)
i had flowers and a stuffed monkey and balloon and graham crackers (because old people need their naps and graham cracker, you know) and most importantly the companionship and well wishes of my friends.
on the way home (which was only 10 minutes from our house) i happened to think, "Aunt Buba would have had such a good time! i sure miss her." and so i called her. yes, i totally drunk-dialed my aunt. i think i left two messages before she picked up (the phone cut me off the first time! i was leaving a message and it started talking to me so i wasn't sure if it left a message or not! i had to call back! then i forgot something i was going to tell her so i called back a third time.) TWD was laughing so hard while he was trying to drive, i'm surprised we didn't get pulled over for DWL. (Driving While Laughing.) Aunt Buba says, "i hope you're not driving." i said, "oh GOSH no!!!!" i think she could tell i was a tiny bit tipsy. ;) so i said we all thought of her and Marie had said in her honor, "I love you! i love you! i love you! i love EVERYBODY!!!" she said, "my sentiments exactly." :D
afterwards, those who could followed us back to our place (like that creepy big vehicle that was RIGHT BEHIND US that TWD tried to lose--which turned out to be
silvrwillow. oops. lol!) and we had hot cocoa, hot cider, and the most delicious strawberry shortcake ever. srsly. boston creme layered strawberry shortcake. it was TO DIE FOR.
we played Apples to Apples that i got for Christmas and my new Uno cards that i got for my birthday. we ate snackies and chicken wings, veggies and chips. and had more wine. ;)
i did NOT have a hangover, thank goodness, and everyone headed out by 10. TWD and i crashed on the couch at 10:30 watching TV. so yeah, i guess i was more lame than he was at HIS 40th birthday. hahaha. woke up around 11:30 and went to bed.
seriously though? best. day. ever.
