Closing Down

“I can see the lights on the shore
getting farther away
I don’t know if I'll make home tonight
But I know I can swim
Under the Tahitian moon”

“Tahitian Moon” ~ Porno for Pyros

This is something that I’ve been wrestling with for a while and today, the combination of the wind, rain, and mood finally inspired me to do it.

Starting with today’s earlier post, I went back and shut out the lights on every post I’ve written since starting this thing. It was interesting to look back on each entry, remembering my state of mind when I wrote, read the comments from friends (one of them gone, now), then pull the plug.

I felt kind of guilty, like that last scene from 2001 where HAL’s mind is being shut down one memory chip at a time, his mind fracturing and diminishing away as each is pulled out.

So for now, this is it: I’m closing the doors on this journal. I’m not throwing away the key by deleting this journal, so there exists the possibility I’ll write in it again, but for now the sign has been flipped and the door locked.

I’ll still use this account to make comments and keep an eye on things, but I don’t see myself posting on this journal any time soon. I’ll still write stories of my life on the other blog, though, so for those who are interested, you can make your way over there.
