I should clean my files up more often, cause look what I found!
A contemporary piece I'd written when I was fifteen years old...
Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either.....
A hundred years….
Sometimes it’s way too long, sometimes much too short.
On some days, you don’t even know how to get through that same day, let alone going on for another 70-80 year’s, cause, let’s face it, under normal circumstances you're bound to live that long.
So, why?
Why is it that we can be so fed up with something, and only want to get rid of it, and at the same time love it so much, we just can’t get enough of it?
The answer is easy….we’re human…
Yes, it’s normal for a human being to love life, and dream about his/her own future, how short as it may be.
It also is normal for a human being to just want to give up sometimes. No one is always completely happy, we all have our moments of happiness, sure, some more often then others. But, some things just can’t exist without another, like there’s no day without night, there is no Happiness without sadness and pain.
This is also the reason why we think a hundred years to live is too short AND to long at the same time: we go through a lot of things in our lifetime, some good, some bad, therefore, when something good happens, we’re happy, and when we look at our future in those happy times, we don’t really take into account the ‘bad’ times that accompany the ‘good’ times.
We are also guilty of the same mistake when we look at our future in a ‘bad’ time, only then, we completely forget the ‘good’ that will happen and only see the ‘bad’ that comes our way.
Truth is, I don’t think it matters how long we have to live. We could live a thousand years and it still won’t be enough. We could only have a 30 years and still it could be too much for some of us.
When you realise that, life can never be too long for you
