This episode leaves me feeling very quiet. You know, the kind of quiet you get when something serious is going down. I was expecting this episode to be angsty, what with Sam's issues. But I was still in for a surprise as it turned out.
Mark as Hallucifer is just delicious. I like him much better like this, than when he was the Devil on Earth in a vessel.
Poor Sam! Seriously. I was actually getting seriously scared for him towards the end. I thought, 'what if the only solution is for him to die?!' I wouldn't mind another trip up to Heaven, actually. But without Dean there it wouldn't be as good.
I really liked how they managed to squeeze in the story with that other young woman, the patient who kept bringing Sam those candy bars. I liked her! Pretty amazing that Sam was able to recognize her problem as a ghost-related one though. Being as exhausted as he was and all!
I loved the parallels between this episode and "Faith". The role-reversal of it all too.
Cas!!! The worst-kept secret ever! It was so good seeing Misha again! And quite refreshing, seeing him in different clothes too. "Emanuel"! I love that even amnesia!Cas chose a name that in the Supernatural 'verse sounds angelic!
His entrance was great! I loved that scene. Dean knifing the demon, who then rolled down the stairs to Cas's feet! And then the scenes in the car! I liked the first the best because it was just really good for Dean I think to get that stuff off his chest.
And then Meg's return was... okay. I've liked Rachel Miner in the role, but tonight she seemed just a little bit off. I can't decide if it was her or her lines or the direction she got. But.... I think the best/worst part was the ending where she got hired as a nurse at the hospital! What is her plan?! Must be something to do with Cas. Does Crowley plan on getting his revenge on? Do they plan on twisting him into a weapon? What?
So back to Cas. That scene where Cas smites all those demons and remembers who he is. Possibly my favorite sequence in the episode. I found that really powerful and evocative. And the way they filmed / edited it was really cool!
Now for the dark part. Cas saving Sam by taking on Hallucifer. I don't, I refuse to believe that the Winchesters are going to just leave him there to rot. Plus, is the idea that his angelicness will save him from dying from exhaustion? Does he still not need food and sleep? Plus, there's the Meg situation which the boys don't know about yet... Maybe ghost!Bobby will come to the rescue?
Yes... I think it's becoming more and more evident that we've got ghost!Bobby around. We keep getting those little hints dropped. Tonight, quite literally. With Bobby's book following onto the ground by itself and leading Dean to call that guy that got him to Cas. I don't know how I feel about that. But I remain open-minded.
I'm curious to see what happens next.
