Things I noticed upon re-watching SPN 7x04

Oct 18, 2011 21:21

Just small little things, but under the cut in case you're behind.

- Dean doesn't eat apples. The first time around I thought this was just a really weird line meant to force a laugh out of us. But now that I'm watching the episode a 2nd time, I realize it's a clever tie in / reference to Season 1's "Scarecrow" - when Dean almost gets killed in an apple orchard. "I hope your apple-pie is freakin' worth it!"

- In that scene, about 13:30 into the episode, right after Sam asks Dean "To work or drink?" - you can spot a Canada Post truck driving by! Woohoo Vancouver shooting/filming! ; )

- Ok, can I just ask why Sam made the salt ring around that man so small?! Is he stingy with his salt? Personally, I would feel safer with a larger 'ghost-proof fence'.

- Of course it has to be said, Dean giving himself that peptalk if pretty great.

- I can't help thinking that if Sam had been lucky enough to wait a little bit longer, he wouldn't have had to drive back and forth from the barn.

- The red dirt appearing where Dean's phone was on the pavement doesn't make absolute sense to me. Until this point, the dirt was found where the victims finally bit it. Not from when/where they got snatched.

- I kinda' miss the early episodes, when they made the research-aspect of the hunts seem realistic. When they actually indicated a realistic amount of time passing. Now Sam just types something, clicks, and eureka his computer pulls something up.

- Of all the witnesses that Orisis could've pulled up, somehow I think there are worse ones than Jo. Don't get me wrong, I love this excuse to get Alona back on set. However, if it had been up to me - I would've chosen Pamela. Pamela's death feels much more guilt-worthy.

- 2 more things about the touching final scene between Jo and Dean. Ok no, 3:
 - 1. I liked it much more a 2nd time through. I think sans-stomachache I was able to pick up on the emotions in the room much better.
 - 2. I guess MAYBE the gas explosion thing would maybe still have worked, even after she burst the window open and let in all that air.
 - 3. However, if that's the way she's going to kill him, I see no reason for breaking the salt-ring in the first place! I mean, I see that she does it to take Dean's lighter out of his pocket. Which is very poetic somehow - having him die by his own lighter. But still not necessary. I'm SURE that room had matches or one of those sparky-clicker-things for the stove or that the boys had other ways of striking up a flame in that room.

- It was sad when Jo was let go from the spell (or whatever you want to call what Osiris does), disappears, and Dean kinda' looks around saying her name. It's like he had more to say and hear and he wasn't ready to let go of her.

- Now... I could talk about Sam's sideburns, but for captainlon's (and the rest of you who seem to get all horny (for lack of gentler word tonight) over his hair and him/Jared in general) sake I won't.
