In case you didn't know already, Fred & George Weasley are my favorite characters. So you can understand that I was reluctant to lose Fred, for what kind of felt like a 2nd time. It'll never be as shocking as when I first read the book, but it was still something I was reluctant about. Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself.
I'll try to keep this short (we all know how I can rattle on).
- This movie had me in tears within the first couple minutes, no joke. I don't know what was with me. I think I'd been preparing the tears all week, and especially today or something beforehand. Which usually prevents the tears - wanting and/or expecting to cry usually makes me unable to. But in this case I don't know what happened, but I had a few tears right form the start. While we're on the subject, I didn't cry straight through. I cried intermittently throughout. I was worried, that since I knew what was coming (having read the book), that I wouldn't cry. But I did. Good job cast & crew!
- I don't really know where to start. I'm thinking realizing stuff they left out or changed that I could criticize, but somehow I'm still to drained or something. Plus, I'm just honestly too satisfied by the movie overall right now.
- Seeing that poor dragon in Gringotts made me cry. I was so happy that Hermione spoke up about it. It was also badass awesome that Hermione was the one to jump on the dragon first.
- On the topic of Gringotts, I'm fine with the fact that they didn't have the items in the Lestrange vault burn their skin.
- I saw the movie in 3D. Not my choice. And while I'd still say it was an unnecessary thing, it was actually kind of cool. I mean, you only consciously appreciate it in a couple of scenes, but I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed to have seen it in 3D my first time.
- Oh, and the part where they have to kill Nagini was awesome yet a little drawn out. Or no, not drawn out. I'll explain. I was really worried that they were about to break from canon and have somebody else kill her. I kept shouting in my thoughts, "NEVILLE HAS TO KILL THE SNAKE! NEVILLE KILL THAT SNAKE!" When Neville wakes up is a little cheesy, but I'd say that's the only cheese in the whole movie.
- Ok, and again - Lupin's storyline got cut by a lot. But I guess that gets to be a reward for those who read the books.
- The scene with Dumbledore in the white King's Cross - Limbo?-place was better in the movie than in the book. Idk, when I've read that scene I've had a hard time picturing it - and it was just such a departure or something. But here in the movie I was able to like it.
Ok, I promised I wouldn't ramble on, so I'll stop now. But obviously there's lots and lots more I could and would say. : )
Ultimately: I'm satisfied.
