30 days of SPN Meme: Day 27 & 28
Ok, who here is gawping at the fact that I'm STILL doing this meme?! It's taken me all summer, practically. But I'm so close now, I'm not going to quit now!
Day 27 ~ Your favorite season intro episode:
Out of the five episode 1s so far, my favorite is still episode 2x01 "In My Time of Dying". I'd say the ranking order goes a little like this:
Season 2, Season 5, Season 1, Season 4, Season 3.
I just love IMTOD! I love the story of it. Love the whole situation of: The Impala has just been rammed by an 18-wheeler, the demon flees Sam's threat of the Colt, all three Winchesters rushed tot he hospital. I love how we follow Dean's realization that he's a spirit, or that he's in "the in between", first. I really loved the whole Dean-is-near-death-and-being-hunted-by-a-reaper, leaving Sam and John to deal with the consequences of the accident in different ways. Brotherly love. Family angst. A little Bobby moment. Impala-Dean connection. I love that it manages to be dramatic without any physical fights, blood/guts, or whatever. And the way it sets up the rest of the season, and heck - a lot of what follows for Dean, is just so well handled. You're just left dying to know what John whispered to Dean. Gah, the emotions! So yeah, it's not only my favorite intro episode but also perhaps my favorite episode all together.
Day 28 ~ Your favorite season finale:
This is actually a harder one for me to answer. This show does finales really well. I don't know! I'm feeling somewhat tied at the moment between Season 2's and Season 3's. But I'm not sure I can decide right now. Let me say this:
Season 1: I love that it's YED, the three Winchesters together, and the final scene can still make me jump.
Season 2: First of all, it's a big two-parter. It's like Supernatural: The Movie, or something. What really steals the whole thing for me is Dean's monologue to Sam, you know the one, and Bobby & Dean's scene in the junkyard.
Season 3: This has gotta be the hardest episode to watch out of the five. Well, S5's might well be bringing the heat now. But still, this episode packs a huge punch every time I watch it. Sam & Dean's singing scene in the car gets me very emote'y (my word of the day, I think, btw). In fact, sometimes that scene is sadder than the final moments. Oh, and I love Dean and Ruby kicking each other's asses. Random aside, but I really like seeing a girl taking on Dean (thinks of that shapeshifter episode "Nightshifter", for example).
Season 4: Honestly, to me this was the least cliffhanger'y of the 5 finale episodes so far. But of course I love it for the Bobby & Dean scene(s), for Ruby finally getting what she had coming, and for that glimmer of hope of the boys' relationship being repaired.
Season 5: I've only watched this episode twice so far, so I don't have a lot to say about it. Except that I definitely loved it. I'll be discussing it and all of S5 soon, as I'll soon have finished rewatching the whole thing.
I'm going to leave these last two for later. I love so many fanfics that I've read!
