the role that language plays in how we interpret our world. I guess this maybe seems sort of obvious, but the author discusses some pretty interesting linguistic examples that may really broaden how you think about the words you use.
A new startup is looking to make big bucks with vastly improved thermoelectric chip technology. Basically, the idea is that you can take waste heat and use thermal conduction to generate electricity; this is a really big source of power in a lot of other industrialized countries. However, Alphabet Energy believes its technology might be cheap and efficient enough to be useful in laptops, cell phones, and all kinds of other places. If there's hope for making the information civilization sustainable, a solid chunk of it lies down this sort of path.
