But sometimes... let me tell you a story.
Otis and I go, almost every day, to this park on campus for exercise. Lots of dogs' owners take them there, so Otis gets to play with other pups and we dog freaks get to talk about our babies. It's a lot of fun.
Normally, when we're at the park, Otis wants nothing to do with me. He'll stay near me, but he doesn't want to play with me. I figure that's normal - after all, we spend all day, every day together.
But one day, about a month ago, he walked right up to me and stood beside me, like "hey, look, I love my Momma!" And I was excited. Until I realized he was peeing on my leg!!! He just cocked his leg right up on me and started peeing. Fabulous.
But, I thought, at least he did it to me. I mean, I was super embarrassed, but at least it was on me and not someone else, right? Famous last words.
So today we're at the park again and Otis walks up to this dude, hikes his leg, and goes to town. It happened so fast, there was no time to react. By the time I caught him, it was way too late. Dude had been marked.
I apologized profusely, dude seemed okay with it, life goes on. Then this dog Petey comes along, plays awhile... and notices the scent on dude's leg. Next thing you know, Petey's peeing on this guy too!! The poor man. And, to make it even better, a couple minutes later, Petey turns around and hikes his leg on this other chick.
My dog is that dog at playgroup that is a bad influence on everyone else. I'm mortified.
