My favorite professor died. He was in the English department, and everyone loved him dearly.
I took him for three classes... Southern Literature, American Lit from World War's I-II, and Business Writing.
He was 81 years old. We had a birthday party for him on his 80th birthday last year in class. He finally stopped teaching in the fall because he told us "my mind still feels very sharp, but my body... eh. It is failing."
He taught me to love literature. He adored every author we studied - he had a full scrapbook for each! What a great man.
He directed graduation every year - he'd been here at Tech since 1962. I wish he was still here to direct mine.
