It is coming...

I heard a Christmas carol on the radio today.

18th of November. Thanksgiving, then Christmas. Yup ... time marches on. Yeeks.

Out here, they've been playing them 24/7 on one of the radio stations since November 1, I think. The dentist office started playing them a week ago.

I don't mind selling the Christmas items early, I can avoid that in teh store...but the music?? NOT UNTIL AFTER THANKSGIVING, PLEASE!!!

Another interesting note - this year, everyone wants practical gifts. Shoes, gift cards for gas or the supermarket. Yeeks.

Does that bother you? I would rather give someone something they want, or better yet, will use, than something I *think* they'll like. I'll admit, I do prefer to give something they wouldn't buy for themselves, but I think the economy has people thinking a whole different way these days. I know for myself, I'm not asking Bill for anything. We'll spend it on the kids, and yes, it will be more practical this year than in years past. CJ wants gift cards for the film and paper supply house...his major costs big $$! And if that's what would make him happy, that's what he shall have. Doule bonus is that his campus bookstore is a Barnes and Noble.
