...If you wanted to share some kind of message with a younger version of yourself, what would you say?

[Simon's in the plaza today, hanging out by the fountain and pondering his journal. At some point he might be scribbling out a note on a loose sheet of paper.]

pondering one's fate, garlock

... A letter to your younger self? [Don't people usually write it for when they're older?]

Yes. This experiment might have given some people that kind of chance.

What's so different now you want to tell a tinier you?

I think it would be good way to encourage yourself, don't you?

I s'pose so. Adults get so different when they're older, they don't laugh as much!

So maybe some good encouragement would be to tell your younger self not to forget to laugh as they grow up.

Yeah! And adults also say 'no' a lot more, they don't want to believe in anything anymore.

I wouldn't say that. Plenty of adults that I know believe in lots of things for their whole lives.

That's good! You have to believe, especially in yourself, na?

[Voice] dawndigger December 4 2010, 07:27:57 UTC
Right. That's the most important thing you need to believe in.

Are you going to write that to yourself, mister?

It's a good place to start.

What about some of your favorite memories too? Some people don't have very good memory, and that's important! [Her older self has too much experience in this.]

I'm not sure about that. Some of the memories I have have to do with things my younger self wouldn't understand right now.

[Voice] tinyjasmine December 4 2010, 08:02:33 UTC
What would those things be, mister?

[Hm... probably nothing he should be sharing with a little girl.]

I've fought a lot of battles, and met a lot of important people over the years. But in order to become who I am now, I lost people, too. It would be hard to explain to a younger me, who hasn't gone through all that.
