AMC--Chapter Thirty-Eight

Jan 20, 2006 09:13

In chapter thirty-eight, we return to Tirion to witness the happy (?) reunion between Nolofinwë and Findekano. I'm keeping this chapter at a general rating, although it does contain some sexuality, but nothing graphic.

I had thought that I would have to rewrite the next chapter; as it turns out, the next two chapters are written and safe in my ( Read more... )

Well, I really don't like him. So it was funny to watch Arafinwe going about his merry way and embarassing his older brother with indiscreet questions.

He's not very likeable...but I do hope that his reasons for being the way he is shows through. He's jealous and nursing an inferiority complex...and puzzled by being the oldest and the middle son, as frenchpony pointed out in a comment below. I feel bad for him...but he is a sort of bastid. And I love forcing him to interact with Arafinwe. The two are such different characters, and Arafinwe does love digging at Nolofinwe's nerves. Plus, I love Arafinwe.... *huggles him*

In order to bring Nolofinwe to the "full brother in heart" point that you love so much, I have to start him a little low and have him evolve as a character, so I hope you like him more as the story progresses. ;)

And, imagine what it's going to be like for Nolofinwe later, when Aredhel will be old enough to hang out with her cousins and roam the lands with them for days.

Lol! True! You have to wonder what went through both Feanor and Fingolfin's heads when their children took such a liking to each other despite the animosity between their fathers. You don't hear of similar closeness between the Feanorians and Arafinwe's kids, although Finrod does go hunting with Maedhros and Maglor at one point. But Felagund's special and knows a hott, red-haired cousin when he sees one. It's kind of interesting that Fingon and Aredhel were so close to their cousins regardless of their father's--and uncle's--stupidity in the same matter.

Just goes to show my twisted mind finds pervy things in innocent mistakes. >:^P

Hehe...just goes to show you the power of the Freudian slip too! :^P

(Ups, sorry for shouting at your Nolofinwe muse.)

That's okay. :) Sometimes, all of my muses need a good shouting. I don't try to write perfect, universally likeable characters. Then it'd be a cast of Mary and Gary Sues. So holler away...and feel free to hate him a bit too! ;)

The part about Arafinwe not eating meat. It made me smile and "wonder" where he got it form. Together with the finger biting when nervous habit form "Return to me" ;D

*innocent whistling and thumb twiddling*

See, when someone who reads my stuff and knows me as more than an author and as a friend...I think you start to see where some of my ideas come from. In the original RPG that I run, my main character is a pervy, blond, vegetarian Elf (named Felagund, incidentally *blushes*), and when I used to play with him in a different game, Bobby laughed at me and said, "Wonder where you got that from!" :^P In my original novel, my main character gnaws his fingers until they bleed when stressed, something else he got from me. :)

Is it "Ehtelion" or "Ecthelion?"

I've always known "Ecthelion" to be translated in Quenya to "Ehtelion." So it's not a typo, and it is the same guy as the uber-hott, ideal-slash-partner-for-Glorfindel later lord of Gondolin. ;)

You betcha! I'll follow his evolution with much interest and I look forward to seeing exactly how Nolofinwe is going to stop despising Feany and actually start caring. Because I do believe that Nolofinwe was more than just concerned for his people's well being, while trying to reconcile with his brother. Who knows, maybe Feany did something to earn his half-brother's... affection.

*whistles innocently despite wicked gleam in eyes*

Whoa! I never thought of that! Hmm... there goes another bunny... Sorry, but I'm so pervy it's practically bubbling out of my ears. >:^P

He, he! Yea, I tend to remember these details and smile when I recognize them in somebody's character. And I do it, too. Every time I write from a character's POV (which is usually the case), I give him/her a little bit of myself. In Erestor's case, everytime I write him, he is almost half-self insert. :) I kind of use him to express my own thoughts and ideas, sometimes.

I'm glad I asked about the spelling of "Ecthelion", because I learned something new. I hadn't thought about the Quenya spelling of his name. As for ideal slash partner for Glorfindel... hmm... perhaps. I've always thought of Erestor in that...er... position. But that's Third Age, right? So, yea, Fin&Ecthelion sound good, and they fit well into my Erestor/Feanor&Feanorions theory. However weird that sounds.
