AMC--Chapter Twenty-Seven

I'm going to try to keep this short, for once.

I'm going to rate the chapter for general audiences, although there are some mild mentions of sexuality.

Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Thank you for reading!

Eh, don't worry about the subplots. It's not like the Sil is full of more gaps and lacunae than Swiss cheese, in addition to the non-existent characterization, right? It's just deeds with names attached. It practically begs for non-canon subplots. Which is why I, at least, like to write Sil stories.

I've been thinking about Macalaurë a little, and I've come to a decision. If I were Macalaurë's primary instructor/advisor at the Conservatoire Alqualondë. . .

. . . the first thing I would do would be to put the boy in a large orchestra. Later on, when he got the hang of playing in a large group, I'd move him to smaller chamber ensembles. In fact, I'd focus on ensemble playing for much of his first year there.

. . . I would also put him straight into a dance class, social dance for preference. He has very low self-esteem, and I think that comes from not being naturally athletic in a family of smiths and athletes. But he clearly has a good sense of rhythm, if he's able to play for dance parties, and he seems to understand things if he can relate them to music. I don't think he's as much of a klutz as he thinks he is. I'll bet that, with an understanding teacher, he'll discover that he can dance. And that will do wonders for his self-image and for his self-confidence.

Me too. With LotR, I feel like I can't hold a candle to the original work, so why try? Keeping with this, the little bit of LotR that I do pertains to characters who don't get a lot of attention, like Elladan and Elrohir, the Rivendell Elves, the Lothlorien Elves (other than the main players in those areas, of course).

Awww....

Seriously, I love your input about Macalaure's music education. You know enough about my music background to know that I haven't had a lot of education, so this is most helpful. Many, many thanks!
