I don't think that anyone who writes Feanor as a complex and mixed character could find him easy to write.

*raises glass of...ummm...bottled water?*

(Felak's at work :-P)

Hear! Hear! Nicely done sly compliment to me, yourself, and every Feanatic on my flist! ;) (With whom I have spent considerable time griping about what a pain in the @$$ Feany is to write. *grumblegrumble*) But you make a good point: He is hard to write because he is so complicated; because we know he is proud and more than a little obnoxious at times, it is a challenge to bring forth his virtues and make him sympathetic nonetheless.

The other day, I found a Silmfic at Pit of Voles, where there's this OFC who gets abused by the Feanorians and saved by the Valar and turns out to be Iluvatar's sister (!).

Lol! I read that! If you looked at the reviews, you would have noticed that one Dawn Felagund left quite a long one...actually, I think it was my longest one ever, and I don't generally review stories I dislike or think have no potential. I got the impression that the author was young and probably wasn't too well acquainted with the vicious, canatic Silmfic community, and so I left her my email so that, if she wanted help with her story, we could chat writing, but she never emailed me.... :-/

She did, though, if I recall, issue a griping retraction of the story, blaming harsh reviewers. While I felt bad for the obvious, obnoxious, and completely non-constructive flames she got, a few people took a lot of time to give her some excellent suggestions. As someone who has gotten very long, nitpicky suggestions on her story *coughcough juno_magic! coughcough*, I know that it is hard to set aside personal love for a story and admit, "Hey, I'm not perfect. I need to work on this." {{{{huggles Juno, Teh Awesomest Beta}}}}

So, rambling aside, I felt mixed emotions at that whole ordeal. She could have sought help, but she didn't, so....

*shrugs*

Oh, and don't forget d) you've just majorly annoyed them by portraying them as evil torturers.

Lol! I don't like "evil"...I prefer "misguided!"

They must really like me, then. I argue on their behalf until I turn interesting shades of purple! :P
