Well, it's that special day of the week...posting Friday!
I'm going to keep it short for once: We're still in Tyelkormo's point of view. We're still in Formenos.
Warnings for the chapter: Nelyo!gropage. Again. The boy can't keep his hands to himself. Also, Tyelko mentions "spawning." Yes, really, if you thought I was kidding in the

I loved the duet! Maglor pretending to be a girl... that's precious!
I was thinking of my own Silm fic, a take on the story of Feanor's sons by an OFC. I was nervous about her being a Mary-Sue, and nervous about going too far in trying not to make her a Sue, and... well. There will be an OFC/Maedhros romance (sorry, canatics!) though nothing will come of it. And now I'm even more nervous, because I'm not sure if it will be as good as AMC (read: I don't think it'll hold a candle). I have short attention span, so most of my long fiction is just... weird. And I'm still wondering about humourous dialogue, and trying for a G rating (pretty hard when all three Kinslayings are covered)... and, well.

I experienced much of the same Sue/un-Sue dilemma with Annawende. It seems to be a common problem with OFCs! ;) I think that we read so many bad characterizations of OFCs and see so much hype drawn up around the "Mary Sue" that we naturally get on edge when expected to write a young OFC as a love interest of a (hott!) canon character. juno_magic and I had a great discussion on Mary Sues in fanfic. (You might have read it, though; it was part of Chapter Seven. Anyway.)
Characters are always a big deal--one could say the biggest deal--to me. I don't claim to be perfect at it yet (no one is!), but I have generally found that good characters are a mix of good and bad, just like real people. "Mary Sue" is really just a word for an OFC who is too perfect. I would say that if you give your OFC enough flaws and enough realistic behaviors, then you will be fine and will probably have a character that people will enjoy reading about!
As for comparing with AMC, I think that ( ... )

What if it was I who saw him first? HeHeHe! *dreams*
Crappy Criticism: I believe "You sons" should be "Your sons".
Carnistir and the little girl are too funny!
Ha! Ha! Nerdanel's rules for courting: no removal of clothing, careful with placement of hands: "If you wouldn't touch me in such a manner, then it is not proper that you should likewise touch her".
ROFLMAO! And then, "It is doubtful that Nelyo would caress Nana's breast the way he does Annawendë's!" ROFL!! That Tyelkormo is such a witty little Elf!
Ada..smelled..like soil that had been turned in the spring.." LOL!
I love the song! It is wonderfully joyous and completely hilarious!
Another great chapter, Dawn!

Two people now who aren't going to skewer my attempt at a "song." ;D
Thanks for the "crappy criticism." I spend so much time with these stories that I start to memorize the lines and so gloss them when reading to edit. That's (one of) the reasons I love you all! This story is going to be so much better because of everyone's efforts.
::big sweeping Thank You! :D ::

If he'd done something like that while sober... well.

But I guess you don't hold me to as high of standards as Maglor.
And I must admit to being *really* glad about that! ;D

We have a winner!
I had wondered if anyone even remembered that "contest" anymore. I should have imagined that the Caranthir-fan would ;)
Yes, she is Caranthir's future wife.
(What was the prize for winning? I forget.... :-/ )

Dinner with one of your elves, I think, but it doesn't much matter. *cuddles your Caranthir* *and your Celegorm* *reaches over and cuddles your Fingolfin, too, what the hell*

I'm trying to finish a chapter with Maitimo this weekend, so as long as you leave him for my harrassment torment consultation, then I am happy.

And Carnistir running and screaming from that girl is hilarious!!
This chapter is just too funny! I'm sure I'm getting strange looks from my hallmates!

Just imagine the looks I got while writing it! ;D

Hmm, true!
My hallmate came in and asked what I was doing. I said "reading people's live journals." And she's like "Uhhh..." and pretends to start leaving. And I say "What are you doing?" and she says "I'm going to do some work." And I say "Work?! And you make fun of me!?" I was amused.

I have had friends make fun of another group that plays the Exalted RPG *religiously* every Saturday night.
Then, ten minutes later, I check back on their conversation, and they're saying, "And then I got this special character, and he was weapon skill 5 and toughness 8 and he had 14 wounds and...."
And I say, "Listen to yourselves, people!!"
I have learned never to make fun of geekiness. Chances are, before the day is done, I will be acting twice as geeky.
