Happy Birthday, arandil13!

I would sing to you, but you don't want to hear the off-key warbling that I call "singing." No Maglor, am I ;) So I have written you a story instead.

I had in mind a bit of forge-smut. After all, nothing says "Happy Birthday" like forge-smut, at least to a Fëanatic. So I got my Fëanor imaginary friend muse and my Nerdanel

Oooh, I like it! It shows the mysterious aspects of Fëanor's character very well, and the passion between them is lovely...Nerdanel's self doubt is very believable. You write her as such a natural character, very easy to sympathise with.

I love the ideas in this ficlet - Nerdanel being so shocked at the blasphemy, whilst at the same time it is lovely that Fëanor really does seem to consider her more beautiful than the Valar. I was very impressed by how you have combined their intense love and the sense of foreboding for the future.

Thank you :) While thinking on the the deeds that Feanor may have done to "grieve" her and force them into estrangement, I always come back to the Valar. After all, Mahtan was very loyal to Aule, and I'm not sure that Nerdanel shared Feanor's views that the Elves were essentially captives in Valinor.

So it's always something that has fascinated me and finds its way into my stories! Like this one, which I didn't intend to be this way at all.

Also that Feanor was acknowledged as one of the most beautiful of the Elves while Nerdanel is acknowledged as being unattractive (and that people were surprised by their marriage, because of this)--this makes their characters all the more fascinating to me and contributes to my belief that he must have loved her deeply.

In short (haha), both characters fascinate me immensely. But I'm sure you've realized that! ;D

I am feeling very evil right now because--Feanatic that I am--I just started snickering out of control, thinking about "tall" Elves. I imagine that Nerdanel said much the same to Feanor.

Of course, Bobby walked by at that moment, looked at me oddly, and said, "Strugglin'?"

What could I say but yes?

But, yes, on a serious note, I've been into writing short stories for birthdays lately. Well, two: for Jenni and Arandil. And doing some challenge writing. I do enjoy short stories, the happy medium between drabbles and endless novels.
