The support for discussing and planning the Mereth Aderthad on an LJ comm was overwhelming, so I've created the Mereth Aderthad community here. Anyone who has expressed interest in it so far has been sent an invitation, but you absolutely do not need an invitation to join

Just to let you know: if it hadn't been for this post, I wouldn't have known about the comm because I didn't get an invite. (I blame LJ.)

I do too, and it doesn't surprise me. The invite system always strikes me as mildly skeevy! I am going to make a post to the SWG comm as well, and I will tag anyone there to whom I sent an invite but hasn't joined the group. Thanks for the heads up!

And, um, tagging may not work either, depending on how the person's set things up. I only get email notifs when someone leaves a comment in my LJ or responds to a comment I left elsewhere or if I receive a PM. (Sorry to be difficult!)

Well I'm unfortunately out of options at that point then! :) This community isn't going to be a secret, so if the invites don't work and people have the notifications shut off when they're mentioned on a post, then I will have to hope that they will see one of the posts, the announcement in the newsletter, or future announcements about it, of which I expect there will be many.

Yeah, I think that's all you can do. It's on them now and with multiple posts, they'll eventually see something. :)

and people have the notifications shut off when they're mentioned on a post,
I'm not sure if this is just a problem with my account or a general issue, but I haven't got a notification for being mentioned somewhere in ages, and I discovered later several cases where I shoudl have got one. I checked my settings, even turned the settings for it off and back on again, but it still doesn't work.

Edit: I just wanted to check again, and can't find the option in my notification list. Has this been moved, does any of you know about this?
I've been using the old menu until I was forcefully switched earlier this year, and the last time I checked the feature was still with the old menu.
