ABCs of 'gund!

Oct 31, 2010 14:31

I have about half of my student teaching application done! Woohoo! So I am taking a break from schoolwork to gak this alphabet m-word thing from
heartofoshun.

A is for age: 29, at the moment, though I expect that will change in a year or so.

B is for beer of choice: Guinness. Lacking Guinness, anything dark. If it looks like urine, I'm not interested. I thought for many years that I didn't like beer until I turned 21 and went to beer school at Busch Gardens (What? No--I didn't drink before I was 21!! >.>) and disliked them all except the Amber Bock--a dark beer. And discovered that I liked this wicked dark microbrew called Bad Moon Porter that everyone else hated. But, yeah, I can drink dark beer like water, if allowed.

C is for career right now: I hesitate to say that I have a "career." At the moment, I make my money as a freelance writer. That's not what I want to do with my life. I'm training to be an English teacher, which I hope will make me happy and keep me fed for some years. But I honestly can't see myself dedicating my life to just one thing.

D is for your dog's name: Alex and Lancelot. (Well, actually, today is Sunday, so it is Alex and Phil. Lance's name changes to Phil on Sundays.)

E is for essential item you use everyday: Heh. The Internet! I work online and go to school online. I socialize online a wee bit too.

F is for favourite TV show: I don't watch television. We have an antenna for local channels that Bobby has to go outside and fidget with whenever he wants to watch a football game. I love The Tudors but watch that on DVD, since Showtime most decidedly does not come through on the antenna, no matter how much Bobby fidgets!

On occasion, we'll watch SNL, but I don't know that watching one show a few times per year on actual television (as in: with commercials! uck!!) means that it's my favorite.

G is for favourite game to watch: American football. But I don't. I get too worked up and there really are more important things in the world to worry about.

H is for hometown: I was born in a hospital in Baltimore. I grew up in a small town in Baltimore County called Kingsville. I currently live in a small town in the Carroll County called Manchester.

I is for instruments you play: Trumpet, guitar, and soprano and alto recorder. I can play the melody or the chords on a piano/keyboard, but since I seriously think I have a brain short-circuit that prevents me from doing two actions with my hands at the same time, I can't play chords and melody simultaneously, making me fairly useless as a pianist/keyboardist. (You should hear me try to play a drum set!) I have a fiddle collecting dust in the corner for when my life settles down enough to pick music up again.

J is for favourite juice: Apple cider from Baugher's Farm. Yum.

K is for whose butt you'd like to be kicking: I'm a pacifist, so I won't be physically kicking any arses. If I could intellectually kick arse, it'd be the Republican Party.

L is for the last place you ate at: Well, Bobby cooked breakfast this morning. The last place I ate out was last night; Bobby, Tristan, and I went to supper at Legends down in Westminster.

M is for marriage: Yes. I'm currently and very happily married. Actually, our sixth wedding anniversary is coming up this week! I'd forgotten about it till my sister and sis-in-law sent me a beautiful card. Bobby and I tend to celebrate the anniversary of when we started dating; we'd both forget our wedding anniversary if our families didn't remember for us!

N is for your name: My real first name is indeed Dawn. My real last name is not Felagund. It's a hyphenated name that people find really hard to say, even though it's really not. My students last year called me Ms. WT!

O is for overnight hospital stay: Not since I was born, thank goodness.

P is for people you were with today: Just Bobby so far, though my parents are coming up for dinner tonight.

Q is for what your best quality is: Creativity.

R is for what you're currently reading: The Stories of English by David Crystal for my History of English course, plus assorted books/articles for my grad school class.

S is for your relationship status: Married.

T is for the time you woke up today: I think I woke up around 8:30, but I stayed in bed with Phil, reading, till almost 10.

U is for type of underwear you have on: Ummm ... *checks* black silky bikini briefs and a flesh-toned bra.

What the frig happened to V? Are we still in the Middle Ages where U and V are the same letter??

I'll make up a V.

V is for favorite vegetable: I like almost all vegetables. That's good, since I'm a vegetarian. My favorite is butternut squash.

W is for worst habit: My helium hand. I'm always taking on too much. I know this is my nature. I'm not happy unless I'm experiencing at least low-grade stress. I suppose that's my upbringing. My parents never knew how to relax either.

X is for x-rays you've had: I had my back x-rayed as a young'un for scoliosis. I had a chest x-ray a few years ago because I was having awful back spasms coupled with a spongy feeling whenever I breathed. Never did figure out what that was about, but antibiotics cleared it up.

Y is for some yummies: Nachos with queso blanco (preferably from El Rodeo up in Hanover) please!

Z is for zodiac sign: Virgo. Not surprisingly, I don't put much stock in the Zodiac. Yet I do fit the qualities of a Virgo quite well.
