This is .... frankly speech-less-ness inducing... So its a good thing I'm typing, eh? ;P

Anyway, this raises some really really lovely questions and dilemmas. I've always been a bit iffy about the treatment of the Moriquendi in-canon and this sort-of makes it better, but not really? At the end, there is definitely a feeling of relief about Tata getting to be one with the clay as he wanted, but the very existence of Valar 'taints' it, with spiritual implications?

As for the line in question, I like to think that it was written during JRRT's misspent youth with the misogynist Inklings but like CS Lewis, he later saw the light with his attempts at gender equality in statement if not in fact... (I 've not yet and probably won't read his Letters because I don't want to be disabused of this notion ;p)
